While I agree with you to a certain extent, this is a slippery slope. Where does one draw the line between style and taste? If style is something someone aspires to, and taste is their choice with regards to it, what if buying an ugly blazer and stuffing a pocket square in it is someone idea of "style"? If executed perfectly, does this exempt them from having bad taste?

I reckon that capes and high-heeled boots on men are always bad taste, regardless of semantics.

    +1

Taste in dress is a matter of application and transgression rather than semantics and rules.

Where is Hans in that poll? Hans' taste is even worse than Fritz' or Bogdan's!

Because he is not one of the top 50 most prolific contributors to the WARWRN thread (or GDL).

Why give him satisfication of knowing that we regard him in any respect, even for something like this? It's like giving food to a stray cat.

It's amusing that so many awful dressers, who give each other reach arounds in that thread, have managed to stay low in the poll.

This poll should be done by a specially appointed committee - otherwise it's going to be a victim of bias.

Toiletduck is apparently the less disliked poster, how does he dress?

The fact that KB is leading this poal while never littering that thread with multiple pictures of himself is really a shame.

He has many pictures of himself in his blog, which is in his signature.

The second layer of significance of the poll, as you're pointing out, is that the results themselves are an indication of the overall taste level of the polled SFers. [IMG] [IMG]

^^ To ensure maximum objectivity, the committee members should all be from AAAC, of course...

Well we don't have a rep system or anything else for people to give feedback on style or taste without being perceived as douchebags for speaking up. I tend to think that the anonymity will help bring out honesty rather than bile.

Isn't that what PMs are for?

Seriously, if this moderates the Bukkake levels, then everyone benefits, no?

Are you serious? You send PMs to people to tell them their outfits suck? [IMG]

Of course not. My post was both tongue in cheek and in bad taste. In fact, I only ever say what I want to say about outfits on the thread itself, good and bad

I was reading your suggestion about starting separate threads for genuine feedback on photos. Given that this was part of my motivation for posting photos, I'm wondering if that's how I should have made my start...
