Hi everyone, I'm a newbie here and would appreciate your advice.

I have a close friend who will soon get married. I tried to think of a special gift for him, but it is really hard.

If it were you, what would you buy?

    My sincere thanks,

If he is a good friend, you want to become good friends with his future wife as well. Buy a gift with both of them in mind and not just him.

Here are a few that have worked well for me:

-A gift certificate to a very special restaurant
-A really nice bottle of champagne

Either one of these can be enjoyed sometime in the future after all the newlywed stuff has long worn off and they will remember you.

If you want to do something for your friend, take him out one night, maybe a night when his fiance is having a shower. That or take him camping or fishing. A one on one guy get away.

If the couple has a gift registry, it's usually best to select something from that.

A good friend of mine got married and we were talking one day(before the wedding.) He mentioned that he didn't think that they would take a honeymoon right away due to cost issues. Luckily, they got a load of $$ at the wedding and were planning a honeymoon about a week later. He also mentioned that he needed to go out and buy a nice camera.....

I went out the following day and got them(actually him as his wife is a real bitty), a really nice camera. Told him to swing my house for a brew. Gave him the camera. He was VERY thankful...

    But..as noted...you know your friend...we don't!
