We have been getting a lot of rain lately and I have only one pair of dress shoes with rubber soles. I called the store where I got them (JM Weston) and thought to buy a pair of the same shoes in brown (the ones I have are in black). Well they were only available in brown suede, which seemed to me to not fit the bill (rain). I asked what else they had that was at least somewhat dressy as at work I wear a lot of suits and blazers. The salesman sent me a picture of a new boot they have in black. I have never owned any boots other than hiking boots and these seem to me to be nice casual to slightly dressy but probably not suits. Am i correct? They are the black ones in the foreground. Any thoughts welcome.

You can wear chukkas with a suit, slacks and sport coat, chinos, and even denim.

Suede is more durable than you think. Use a suede spray and you'll be fine in most cases.
