What a piece of shit. Almost as bad as Holy Motors. The imagery was amazing, really 10/10 stuff, and there were some really beautiful moments and some sensational acting. But the movie just had no cohesiveness, or point really. It was a mess, way too artsy fartsy. How this dude won best director at Cannes for this is beyond me. Watch the trailer below, it seems like it could have been something special.... nope.

Just saw the one of the best movies of the year.

The storytelling is sly and sophisticated, but extremely captivating - especially when you realize that all you're really watching is Phoenix carry on half a conversation. Cinematography, design and wardrobe mesh beautifully to create a very subtle future that could be tomorrow or 50 years from now.

I can easily see three Oscar noms: original screenplay, cinematography, and best actor.

    Wow.

Just fine - from visuals to script to acting. DD Lewis perfect as ever.

It did not leave much to imagination but i thought the real genius was in the full range of complex and true emotions adele exarchopoulos creates with her facial expressions. The way her lip trembles when she is unsure being just one of them. I read the director made them do hundreds of takes just to get all the nuances right.en Well worth the price of admission. Also check out The secret of the grain from the same director abdellatif kechiche....very good as well.

I have been wanting to see the hobbit for a while, but every time I try to make plans to see if it doesn't work out.

Kind of glad to hear that it's a little bit on the sucky side. I will wait for it to come out on Amazon prime before seeing it I guess.

Anyone see The Wolf of Wall Street?

Almost saw that yesterday but decided on American Hustle instead... just couldn't resist seeing a character named Irving Rosenfeld played by Christian Bale!

Oh yeah, and I forsee a best supporting actress award for Amy Adams and her 120-minute-runtime lack of bra.
