I seriously can't decide whether or not HackingJacket is a troll. I'm leaning towards yes. There's no other explanation for the obstinate atrociousness.

    Tirailleur1, looking good as always.

I never post but this is too much really...

Hacking Jacket, this is a forum where people come to share and discuss men's clothing. The knowledge here is incredible, some people here know more about shoelaces than I do about all of men's style.

You come here, post pictures of your clothes to show the forum.

You don't like what people tell you, although there were some constructive advice given by some senior members who have proven their knowledge over and over.

You get all defensive, telling people off and telling us how rich you are and how the clothes you buy are all from famous designers and brands.

Why do you bother posting your outfits anyways? You wanted to show off your stuff and receive praise and accolades, but instead got the opposite. You could have taken it like a man and tried to improve yourself, but you chose to whine like a little girl and resort to the chav defense. If looking like a christmas tree put together by color blind elves is what you are going for then congratulations, keep doing what you're doing. It makes no difference to anybody here, you are the one wearing the clothes.

I thought he was a troll on the tie knot thread, but now I just think he's genuinely unaware of how bad he looks. I took a look at some of the youtube videos of those ridiulous knots and the comments show that there are a lot of people out there who really think that these things look good... but, you know, we've all been there at some point in our lives....

I'd love to learn more about that. Do you have any lectures I could watch (if that's allowed, and if you're willing to share it of course)? Or could you recommend some reading material? Anyway, it sounds like an awesome class, I wish I could take it!

It's only a couple of classes as part of a course on cities more generally. And I run through a whole load of stuff quite quickly: from older hostorical examples like the C14th London craze for excessively long and pointy shoes (the points were held up by chains!) through dandyism and the gradual difusion of aristocratic style to just-in-time 'fast fashion' (H&M et al.). What this is for is to try to establish how style is linked to particular cities and perhaps how those links are now in the process of being broken. I do a particular lecture on Paris in the C19th and dress appropriately, which I also do for the New York lecture, although that deals more with architecture and planning. I would love to teach a whole course on urban fashion, but it's only a side area or interest for me and I don't want to cut into my main area of interest. I don't have anything on video, unfortunately, but that may change next year... all universities are getting quite big on opening up access to courses

You should check out "Fashion, Impressionism and Modernity" at the Met if you can get down to NYC. If not, get the catalogue. I went last weekend. There is one room for menswear. They clearly don't care as much about it as they do the women's, but it's still worthwhile.

Thanks for the detailed reply! Just looked up those pointy shoes, they're absolutely fascinating! This page had some cool info about them: http://www.mercwars.com/longtoe.shtml. Intersting quote:

'Tis the season. As noted in WAYWRN, I apologize for the blurry full photo but otherwise, fucks given = 0. For the record: Trousers are YELLOW. Like, canary yellow. [IMG][IMG]

sorry G. This is probably the worst youve posted. :hide: Youre capable of much better.

I think the odd coat MAY actually work with the pants in this case...maybe. But the shirt and tie....no way bro.

Totally agree with Derek, and seriously, did you post this in every thread on the forum? It seems like it.

I... ah... like the jacket/trouser combo... but I would really like that jacket to be a 2 button instead of 3.
