Tagut I think I like your piece but I really don't have any reference point for contemporary classical. If you were to recommend one single album for this purpsoe what would it be?

(I have the obvious stuff like Glass and Cage et al.)

If you mean for 20th C. Classical at large, that's a huge question. I don't even have that much music that post-dates the '60s, so I may not be the best authority.

Right now, the CD closest to me is Pollini paying Schoenberg's complete piano works-- excellent, excellent, excellent. An even closer approximation to what I was aiming for in my own piece is early, "miniaturist" Webern. You can get Webern's complete opus-numbered works on a 3 CD set-- I have the set conducted by Boulez. Webern's only solo piano piece- the IMO overrated "Piano Variations"- came late in his career, however, and I think Schoenberg in general had a much better sense of writing idiomatically for the instrument.

This website has a HUGE archive of avant-garde classical recording, much of it doubtlessly out-of-print:

There are also a few good blogs for 20th C. music out there. Try this one:

I have a Tumblr. What does "allowing replies" do? For instance, I've had people tell me they've tried to 'heart' my stuff, but can't. Do I need to allow replies? I don't know the internet.
