I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to file a chargeback against me, considering I wrote this earlier...

There's no sign on my PayPal account that it has been affected by anything.

My FQHH is pretty good. It's not the same quality as the Horween horse that Aero uses, but the grain is pretty even.

Re. construction - There are some minor issues with matching the grain between adjacent panels, but that became more apparent after I soaked the jacket, something I often do to get that initial sheen off. Some manufacturers are very conscientious about using similar parts of the hide for adjacent panels, but his guys were not at careful. The sleeve hems were not as well finished as, say, Aero. I don't know if it was purely by design, but some of the more difficult parts of making a leather jacket, like rolling the leather to meet at a seam, are just eschewed, at least on my jacket. My jacket is heavier than most ToJ jackets, and it takes a skilled worker to work with heavy leather, since rolling it is more difficult the thicker the leather is. On some of the lamb jackets I've seen, the construction is better, but definitely still not on the same level as the top tier leather specialists.

The lamb leather is decent - it's actually relatively inexpensive. You can go to any leather place and see this. The lamb that ToJ used was pretty typical garment leather, probably cheaper than most wholesale since he used jobbers and ends rather than have a regular supplier.

You guys have to remember that Drew learned on the fly. And some of the stuff he said early on, especially, was just plain incorrect. For example, he once claimed to use 3 mm leather. That's insane. That is bridle leather. For reference, the leather leather than Aero uses is 1.3-1.4 mm. 3 mm would be actual armor. He probably meant 3 ounces, but I know that it's something that he stated several times. His talent was in being able to gauge his market very well and to create products that has widespread appeal. I have a lot of leather jackets, and I still regular wear my beat to shit, self repaired ToJ because it's an easy wear and looks good with most things.

Yes, that rumor came from SUFU. The thread appears to have been deleted now, which Drew apparently did himself. Once again, I must stress this is a RUMOR and may have no truth to it whatsoever. Angry people sometimes say things that are not true.

Moon Leather provide quality products. We have confirmation that they provided at least some of the products as they posted them directly to customers.

There is no way Drew could have scammed people on Sufu with nobody here hearing about it.

If I remember correctly, drew did delete his old TOJ thread on Sufu when he was starting TOJ to prepare for a more "official" version of it. If you look at his first website it was the "unofficial" TOJ. His next one, the "official" version is gone because when Sufu went from v3 to v4, Sufu lost a lot of its old database including the TOJ thread. I wouldn't speculate him deleting his first thread that was getting him started and I don't recall any scams. I've been following TOJ ever since it started on Sufu (in 08? Or 09?). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Sufu thread was deleted years ago and you probably never heard of toj until last week so I'm failing to see how you can say it came from Sufu.

Oh my lord this thread is unbelievable!

sinnedk wondering about the quality of the leather on a jacket he owns?!? Here's an idea: you own the jacket? TOUCH THE FUCKING THING. LOOK AT IT. Why rely on the speculation of some strangers (way after you've owned the jacket for a while) on the Internet to tell you about the quality of a jacket that you have hanging in your own closet? Meanwhile he's giving completely random and undereducated advice to people about boots that cost $2000+ in the baller boot thread. Geeeeeez.

And bootleg YKK zippers?!? Cmon. Clearly Drew was not going directly through YKK because he could never meet minimums. But if the zipper seems fine, why add insult to injury? Hell, I work with a company that puts their sliders on YKK teeth because we can't meet YKK minimums. But the sliders are actually better than YKK stock sliders.

Drew is (was) buying all this shit from jobbers. It's all leftovers. Every little piece is going to be different. Even when you buy a bundle of leather from a tannery it's a good idea, time permitting (which is usually not the case), to look at each skin to make sure they're usable.

Tanneries make leather usually in big drums these days. If Tom Ford (example used earlier in this thread) orders X sq ft of a leather but the tannery's production does their batchs in X+Y sq ft there will be leftovers. And eventually it will sold to a jobber. And eventually it may end up as a jacket made by someone who is not Tom Ford.

    Good grief.

Is there any record that @secndclasslogin has logged in since the stream of consciousness manifesto I wonder?

+1. Despite that I can't help myself but to go and take a look at my zipper.

He logged in a day or two after his first post.

I'm pretty sure he reads the thread despite not logging in anymore.

You are the definition of a sheeple, lol. You can't even have your own opinion about an item you own yourself, you have to rely on other people's word to reassure you that what you bought is good.

For all we know, your jacket could be made of Drew's feces and you would only just now start to question it's materials and construction, after TOJ's reputation has crumbled.

I don't mean it as an insult, but it's the most ridiculous thing I've seen in this whole thread so far. Back to lurking.

I never thought about it until someone suspected it in another thread...maybe it has been posted here and I missed it in the thousands of posts.

But, this behavior all seems pretty indicative of drug use doesn't it?

All of that shit with the wife in japan and the hearing loss sounds like a recipe for substance abuse...and with that comes a quick way to use up a lot of money and/or a lack of motivation to actually do anything (even if there is still money left...would explain why jackets that are supposedly done haven't even shipped).
