Your actual point is correct, but in the earliest days of Usenet most servers only had archives from the fairly recent past. Thus, the FAQ. Searching a serious archive was only feasible after Dejanews started.
There's always one jackass in every crowd that LOVES to argue technicalities, isn't there? *sigh* Fine. In the early days of Usenet, old archives were indeed much less common. Therefore, somebody asking an already-answered question demonstrated an even *higher* degree of laziness and/or stupidity and/or disrespect for the community, it's members, the server owners, et cetera, et cetera. Take that! Booyakasha. [IMG]

I think this is bullshit and it depends on your status on the forum/forums wheter you get flamed for psoting a new thread about an old topic.

However lazyness ( sp) is a product of the internet so you guys better just get use to it!

And yet you can't scroll past the haters' posts that bug you, but must whine about it every single time? Hypocrisy #1.

Using the excuse of bashing on assholes to be an even greater asshole yourself? Hypocrisy #2.

What are you and cldpsu doing but 'policing the forum' whenever you criticize people who get annoyed by relentlessly stupid questions? Hypocrisy #3.

False Hypocrisy #1 : Right, let me not say anything in the thread that addresses all of this

False Hypocrisy #2 : My apologies... I didn't know the rude were so delicate

False Hypocrisy # 3 Like dusty said... it's the rudeness really.

To Chronoaug... I wasn't attacking you directly. I know you provide a good service to people by answering their questions. I know you get annoyed judging from some of your posts but you're not a rude asshole like some people. Just wanted to make this clear.
