One time I went into a church and I got a free faith. I didn't keep it, though.

Returning to the topic of free drinks: I've noticed lately that when I visit NYC and go to restaurants and bars, I'm comped a drink or two with surprising frequency. Much more frequently than happens in Philly (especially since I've abandoned my primary watering hole of several years). Another reason I tend to think NYC is way friendlier than people generally think it is.

How much do you usually spend / how many drinks do you usually have / do you go out in groups and buy rounds?

Usually happens when it's just me (or just me + my girlfriend). Don't spend much at all, really--two or three drinks at a time. I do like chatting with bartenders/servers here and there without trying to be too obtrusive, so maybe that works in my favor

I hope the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will induct both Jizzy Pearl and Phil Lewis when L.A. Guns finally make it in.

I play in a Wiffle Ball league at Yellowbatz in O'Fallon (suburb of St. Louis.) The other day I hit a foul ball and my wiffle ball got lodged in a hornet's nest there was no way I was going to try to retrieve it. Well wouldn't you know it two days later I got an e-mail "Hey I found your wiffle ball in a hornet's nest I am eager to return it to its rightful owner had your name and e-mail address on it." That was wicked of considerate, but that's just how it be in the Wiffle Ball community.

    The Mexicans were exhausted...

They gave away too many corners and Holland has great players...

Robben is a fantastic player even he is falling down like a toddler..

I've probably watched more soccer in the last couple of weeks than in my prior 35 years combined, and I've really enjoyed the whole World Cup thing. I also think it's very cool that it has become increasingly popular in the States. That said, I will never, ever become a legit soccer fan as long as diving pervades the sport. I have nothing invested in either team, but the end of that match was disgraceful.

It was a penalty even if Robben was selling it too.

I am far from well versed enough on soccer to make that call, but the commentary I saw after the game fell uniformly somewhere between, "you don't call that at that point in the game" and "it should never have been called." That certainly makes sense to this nascent fan.

Even if that was legit, diving is pervasive, even considered to be strategy, in soccer, no? I find that to be distasteful.
