I am not giving up anything for Lent on account of don't really know much about that tradition don't see any reason to deprive myself of anything.

glad thats done and over with. it is hell knowing your child's future life choices including her career, her network of friends, even the car she will drive rests on which school the parents choose for her.

I did this twice. My wife told me she was going to, and then I told the story of how I had some this in the past, forgetting that St Patricks day is during lent. She has given up coffee.

Holy shit i didn't know this (as I'm not catholic)

Who in their right mind gives up alcohol for a month? Specially with St. Patrick's day in that month?

when I was still a churchgoer (and at that time consumed copious amounts of potato chips) I gave up junk food for lent. midnight between black saturday and easter sunday I opened a bag of lay's (salted) and hallelujah that smell of industrial grade frying oil that whiffed up my nose when I opened the bag was glorious.

I don't "get" Lent, even having been raised in a religious home, going to Church and stuff. But seriously...

Super stoked because its gonna be hotter than Ibiza this weekend (which is relative cuz its March), and I'm gonna act like its summer!!!!

You guys could always slyly claim that you're giving up something for Lent that you're not going to get anyway, like sex :nest:

I always wondered what vegetarian Catholics gave up for lent. Do they eat meat instead of veggies?

There are some people who have a really hard time conceptualizing space in the abstract have to think of it in terms of land and its boundaries to help make it intuitive. Just this morning I heard a person say "There is a plot on my visage-land where the whiskers they do remain after I shave gets my goat."

When I don't shave for a couple of days, a substance appears on my face that's hard to describe I don't know sort of like carpet. I find that shaving helps make that substance disappear.

One of these years, I'm giving up SF for Lent. Then hopefully, forever after that.
