Hah! So on my little work issue posted earlier - as I feared, my little work enemy escalated our issue to my boss. My boss, in much less nice terms, also told him to go fuck himself. That make me happy.

This makes me happy. I loves this goddamn country. I still get goose bumps during every playing of the national anthem. For anyone that says America's time has passed: go fuck yourself!!!

This could go either here or in pissed off, but I'll put it here. I schedule all the classes for my department, including summer classes, which are optional and for which we get paid well. Three people made big mistakes in requesting their classes that would have prevented them from getting a chance to teach in the summer, but I went out of my way to correct their mistakes. Doing so probably cost me my opportunity to teach this summer (and the money that goes with it).

Perhaps some of you have come to believe that certain features of my posting style--such as my non-standard use of "of"--are wholly invented by me, with no basis in real-world usage. Well behold this glorious sentence from a student paper of which I just read: "...we would be thinking in a way that is common of mad person."

EDIT: I just read another one! When we were younger we used to "believe that Santa was of existence."

Do many of your students write papers with non-standard use of "of?" Or maybe overuse of other conventions (such as possibly parenthetical additions)?

There are many students who are of existence to whom misuse prepositions in countless of way.

The false use of the parenthese is my own contribution (to lore).

    :D

I have hosted SF meetups in STL on a few occasions, but no one ever showed up on account of I only announced it within my own mind (where no other man has domicile or can hear).

Also, I noticed that both of our names begin with "In" (if you disregard the "L'" in mine, which is just "the" and would be excluded in any serious card catalog type of cataloging system). That's pretty cool.

I have nothing to do this evening, which is quite alright by me. Maybe I'll watch a movie or read.
