Staying in Lake Placid proper, or the surrounding area?

It's beautiful up there, but Lake Placid the town is pretty touristy.

It is. I was thinking of doing a day trip, as it's only 40 minutes from my family's vacation home and I'm planning to be there already.

ok so I figured out Plex on Roku (you can stream videos using your computer as a server). Cable TV is now looking more and more useless. it really is in HD with great sound.

I still do love live sports though so its going to be hard to give up in the meantime.

its weird because I never even really used a DVR/TiVo before, and now it looks like Roku (plus being able to stream using the laptop as a server) has leapfrogged that technology altogether.

I recently earned a promotion in my current role, and I currently influence roughly 70% of our total revenue. Yesterday one of our VPs suggested that I apply for a new director level position that the organization is adding. I'm not sure I'll go for it, but I'm really flattered - he has about 40 years of experience in the software market and commands tremendous respect in the industry. Unfortunately the position is outbound marketing heavy which I don't consider either a personal strength or something that I have a lot of interest in.

No, about an hour and fifteen south down 87. Our place isn't that far into the ADKS...around Gore Mountain, if you know where that is.

I don't know why I thought Placid was only 40 minutes away, it's more like an hour.

We've been up to Garnet Hill a couple of times to X-C ski - just down the road (North Creek?)

I have been thinking about Donnelly's Ice Cream today

got an acceptance letter - my son got bumped up a grade in math, so he'll be doing algebra next year. its great, because he gets to do math that pushes him, while staying for the rest of his classes with his friends. as importantly, he really wanted it and worked very hard to get it. I like it when he has to work hard to achieve something he wants.

Picked up a real nice Paul Smith suit jacket today for $100. It feels a wee bit big, but I'd imagine it'll fit perfect in a month or so (I've been getting bigger since I've gotten back into cycling).
