there's this recycling plant about a 5min drive away from my house. they only do trash/recycling once a week here in Norwalk, but they have this nice recycling plant where you can dump all your stuff (as long as you're a resident with a resident sticker).

It has made my moving in a lot easier because all the cardboard boxes, and recyclables as well as the garbage (extra furniture, junk, and other waste). The place is surprisingly clean and efficient with separate bins/holding areas for stuff like electronics (I threw away an old tube TV) and recycled some cooking oil.

Maybe I'll become one of those OCD recyclers of hard things like cooking oil now and stop doing things like hiding old batteries inside my garbage like I did in brooklyn :uhoh:

I do remember the Serb Beast. What about that one you kept running into in bars after you guys split up? Did you get to tag it on one her drunken text nights?

I'm finally trying out a Roku - I bought the Roku 3. Damn this thing is pretty nifty - the amazon prime, netflix, hulu plus really does stream HD. If streaming from a computer (working as a server) works smoothly then I can effectively stop using the DVR/TiVo.

I might have to end up buying newer TVs and installing roku's in all the guest rooms. It seems like a cool thing to provide guests (access to Netflix/hulu/amazon prime movies).

We have two of them and love them. We have a guest house and plan to put one out there too.

Agar is a gelatinous sugar used often in Asian cuisine.

I have no idea what Ashton is.

making it to the summit, in the winter, when the sun is shining with little emotions on the ridge before you get there- now that's a good feeling
especially if you still have some chocolate and water left to celebrate on the summit. Last time I was so high on endorphins I sang on my way back.

did you get the yankees blackout/homegames option? The one thing I fucking hated about MLB.tv is the blackout restrictions (where you can't watch your "home team" in a certain region).

It worked out great when I was in Brooklyn so I would watch the redsox a ton, but now here in Connecticut the redsox are fucking blacked out because Conn is part of the redsox blackout zone. Last year was the only year I skipped getting the mlb.tv and now its a catch 22 because I want to badly get it but all the games I want to see is blacked out (and optimum doesn't fucking offer NESN in Norwalk).

so I can't get NESN :brick:, but the YES network is free :fu:

Did you sell your Brooklyn place? Maybe I should buy it. I want a bigger place.

    I wouldn't touch the place with a 100ft pole.

We were doing this CoOp/Rent-to-own under the table type of arrangement with a good friend of my mother in law. The place was spacious (3BR) but was falling apart, the only bathroom was cramped and old. Even if it was really spacious it was so bad for entertaining guests/family/friends because of the layout.

I hate to be self hating/racist against my own kind, but the worst kind of business you can do if you're filipino is with a fellow filipino who's semi-related to you. When it looked like we were about to be able to finally really buy the place the family friend/pseudo cousin started waffling on actually selling the place and when we showed her the contract we wrote up she started getting even more sketchy. I'm happy that we didn't actually buy it (but we were heavily saving money for the last 5 years on the assumption we were going to).

I'm happy I've got today off. I'm going to eat breakfast food for lunch at diner. I'm going to eat at the bar because I'm alone. I'm happy the wife arrives this weekend, but for the next couple of days I'm savoring the alone time.

Stayed in bed until 1pm today. Got up and it was bright sunshine so worked with every window in the house open wide.
