I have to travel to Boston in two weeks for work. Not looking forward to it. On top of it all I have to make all travel and lodging arrangements myself and go back and forth with my boss. We don't travel often so we don't have anybody who does that for us. On top of it all my boss complains how all of the options are too much money for the hotels. For whatever reason they think pricing in Boston is closer to a third world country. So fucking irritating.

Good luck getting good pricing for hotels. It's convention season so everything is through the roof.

True, a lot of them are booked. I think the company is just going to have to take out their checkbook. They even started talking about having us stay outside the city and renting us cars... I'm like, uh, you're going to spend the same amount in the end, why torture us?

    This.

One nice thing about working for a consulting firm is they have the travel thing pretty well down pat.

You should just stay with Vox. His closet is bigger than my apartment.

I actually asked him. He offered me up to Romney, but I declined.

He was probably just worried that his wife would take one look at your hair and leave him for you.

i dont mind the emails at all. sometimes i answer them. it was the attitude of expectation that i answer any and all of his emails at all times of day or night, regardless of how unimportant they may be, that bothered me. as if the only explanation to how i could possibly not reply to his emails at night would be that i dont check my phone at night anymore.

its also always lulzy when he tries to gchat/IM me at night if he notices me online.

you should have told your boss that you expect him to call you if it's after hours and there is something urgent. anything else can wait until tomorrow.

I love it when my boss emails me at 2am on a Saturday and I get back to him right away. I feel like a superstar.

PB check out the app Hotel Tonight. It shows unsold rooms everyday at Noon for hotels in major cities.

The risk is that you have to book it the day of, but the prices are always really solid.

I sometimes get 3AM phone calls forwarded to me from clients who have been picked up on a DUI. They almost always ask me to come pick them up because they're embarrassed to tell their wives/girlfriends/significant others. I'm like, "bitch, I'm drunk too. I ain't driving to a police station to come pick you up. I'll see you in the office tomorrow afternoon."

    That's what's awesome about NYC, DUI's are (mostly) a non-issue.

+1! Last thing I am doing at 2AM is checking e-mails. I'm usually watching Antiques Roadshow reruns. :(
