For those with experience with alligator straps, assuming daily wear, how long can one reasonably expect a strap to last before replacement?

there is no real answer to that imo. it depends on how much you sweat/do things that would make you sweat while wearing the watch, and the quality of the leather. not all straps are created equal.

Although not directed at me--it depends on the style, how much you want to pay, etc.

Camille Fournet, ABP, and a craftsman I saw an article on recently, Hughes Handcrafted, all make excellent straps. I only have experience with the first two, but the latter I have heard good things about!

If you want some less expensive options, check out Hirsch. They make straps at various price-points.

I have been looking into getting a black face daytona with the zenith movement. Possibly the patrizzi dial. Any recommendations?

gaaaahhhhhhhh. such a great watch. A buddy of mine recently picked up a snowflake tooter with a gorgeous patina. Im liking those more and more

1-100 years. ;) touch call, but im really hard on my straps, and never had to replace a gator.

im not stitch, but ABP in paris makes the best custom gator straps for dress. ifyou want something more rugged for a larger watch (ie Panerai) Simona does some great gator and croc straps.

agreed. they make the OEM straps for panerai. which panerai then quadruples the price. ;)
