Pretty sure SF has changed all the titles along these lines in order to allow people at work to browse without fearing a call from the IT police.

The FAQ will be helpful for a lot of people. I don't want to fix what is not broken, but I am trying to make things more welcoming to new users, many for whom Styleforum mega threads are extremely intimidating. The number one complaint I get from new users, and I get a ton of new user feedback, both in the form of PMs and emails. is that these megathreads are really intimidating, and that they'd like to take part in the discussion, but don't know where it start.

A forum and a thread only survives and thrives if there is new blood. Having a FAQ allows new users to acquaint themselves with the subject and with the culture of a place before jumping into an ongoing conversation, without adversely affecting the user experience for our core members (you guys). A new subforum would be great for new users, but might disrupt the chemistry the group. For me, a good FAQ addresses the disconnect between the experience of new users and that of core members without disrupting the experience of long term members who have been engaged in the community and this particular discussion for years (and for Greg and some others, a decade).

    Excellent.

This, and I was sick of having to explain to people at google why we should not be dinged, either by adsense or by their search engines. "Appreciation" is just so much easier to deal with.

    Yup!

Any opinions on Davidoff watches. I am considering one that has been deeply discounted but for a limited time only.

^Ashford has a 7750 based Davidoff Chorno for over 80% off. With numbers like that, if you like it go for it. A solid movement at that price point.

Don't be sold on a discount, be sold on the product. There is a reason its deeply discounted. Its nothing significant. It has a good but ordinary workhorse of a movement powering it, however, its basically a fashion watch with a cigar/cigarette manufacturer's name on it. Granted I know they sell other things, but to me its like buying a watch that says Krug on the dial. IMHO there are very few instances where luxury brands that are not dedicated watch makers actually sell or make watches that are worth owning. Personally, I'd skip it and get something else, but if you can get it cheaply enough and you love it then go for it. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Love the dial color on that one and the strap is really comfortable. Enjoy it, its a beauty!

Looks great and the edges are so crisp! Either and amazing polishing job, or never worn. Definitely one of the coolest quartz watches. Enjoy it!

Thanks! I think I got pretty lucky with it. I bought it last summer and my guess is that it had been languishing in a drawer until then. I took it to the RSC in London to have a link removed and the watchmaker said it was in immaculate condition for its age (it left the factory in Aug 1984). It has become my regular watch so no doubt I'll find a way to smooth off those crisp edges soon...

Congrats on your OQ. Actually, I think there are at least 3 others here who also have silver dial ref 17000 OQ. Funny thing is when new, these were the top of the line Rolex. In steel they had a higher MSRP than a steel Sub or Daytona, they were more antimagnetic than the famed original Milguass ref 1019, and they were the first steel Rolex watches to feature a sapphire synthetic crystal and and solid bracelet links. However, once interest in mechanical movements was revived interest in these pieces plummeted. Actually, mine supposedly left the factory around 1997, but it sat at an AD waiting for its first buyer until 2004, when I purchased it brand new. I brought it to Rolex in NYC and the service manager at the time told me that was not uncommon.

BTW mine says hello to yours.
