    Congrats [IMG]

Got to be a birth watch 'investment', surely.

Thanks, and there definitely are some ideas. It is a girl (our first child) so I'm definitely getting a watch for the wife. She wears a Nomos Orion and then one of Ben's watches (same dial as what Ben last posted). I had been encouraging the Rolex blue dial 114200, but I think she really wants something smaller. I had her try on the silver dial 177200 even though I didn't think she'd like the color of the markers, but she loved it. So that is likely hers whenever she is ready to get it. Then I've been planning on getting a tougher go anywhere watch that can handle my activity level and clumsiness. I think I've settled on the SD4000, and was going to use this as a good reason for a big purchase, but I'm not in a rush.

The whole reason I'm thinking less about me and a watch for the occasion is because the whole thing has made my Speedy Pro part of the occasion. I bought the Speedy for several reasons, one of which was that one of my first big projects for work was for and at NASA. So it's always been special to me. But I've been using it to time contractions, to time delivery, and, as I type this, to time breastfeeding. It's just kind of already integrated itself in to having significance in my daughters birth/life through its designed function. It wasn't planned, but just happened, and I think that has made it my most treasured watch. I'm finding it hard to think of anything that would change that, so I may already own the watch to celebrate the event.

    DLJr Congratulations to all.

It sound like you are right and you already have the watch to celebrate the birth of your baby girl. What about getting one for your child instead?

I think that will be mommy's Rolex; hand it down for her 18th or some other big occasion. Unless she wants to get her a separate watch, I think that's the plan.

Congrats on your new family, DLJr.. It's been just over twenty years since we had our first and it's only just recently that I've felt completely caught up on my sleep. But it's been more than worth it.

    Good luck and enjoy.

Congrats DLJr! We recently found out we are having a boy in April 2016. It put a hold on any big splurge purchases other than figuring out a more baby friendly car.

Congrats! We went a little crazy getting stuff "ready" for the baby. We redid 4 rooms not including the nursery, and I started building furniture; we basically went overboard. It definitely put a dent and changed my funny money budget.

The lack of sleep started hard and fast haha. Im thankful I have a place like this and you all to help pass the time in the hospital.

    Thanks again, everyone!

If you can let the grandparents help - do. We really enjoy our grand children - but not for too long!
