How would yall describe the differences between lasts U, K, and S? Trying to decide on a last for my next project between a chisel toe (one of the above), or a round tie (F or R)

    S is the best
    U is the next
C is still in the works
    K is too sharp

Thanks, but I was hoping for a little more description about, say, instead and toe boxes and arches, etc

    :)

Edit: I see what you did there.

Perhaps I'll just stick with lasts:

    F
    U
    Peter

    ;)

Quote:I have no experience with S. As I am given to understand that it is less accomodating in the instep area than the others, I shall avoid it like the plague. As for the differences between U and K - first of all, U is a classic chiseled last - K is technically not chiseled at all, it is merely narrow. And the fit in the toe box is the primary difference between the two, with K being more confining. Definitely NOT the choice for those with chubby, widely-splayed toes. I have a wide-ish forefoot (and high instep) and wear K last comfortably throughout the working day. The lack of wiggle-room, however, makes it a poor choice to wear through the evening at an after-work event. Besides the toe box, K is ever so slighty more roomy in the instep than U. I have way more U in my rotation than K, but the latter rank among my absolute favorite pairs. It really makes a sleek and dramatic statement, IMO. Examples below. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] F is a great choice for a classic, but more understated shoe.

Thanks Roger. I have F, P2, and U lasted shoes, but based on this I think I can safely eliminate K from my options.
