I suspect many of you are unwitting ConTrad aficionados and adherents.

Post a photo. I'll tell you where you fall on the ConTrad spectrum.

You're missing the point. No one piece of furniture can distinguish a room or setting apart from ConTrad.

That is why I fear many of you are victims of the very disease you loathe.

Oh, so you are to determine it? When you know what it is, then you can judge.

I've been quite clear about what defines ConTrad. It is the assemblage and adaptation of traditional elements to suit current fashion. That doesn't mean all pieces in a room must be traditional in some way to qualify the room as ConTrad. On the contrary, legitimate modern or postmodern pieces might be included to bring the room "up to date" and signal a contemporary flavor. However, it is true that many ConTrad proponents will fail to distinguish such pieces from what is merely contemporary product with reduced ornamentation.

This is just a way for you to attempt to justify whatever it is that you bought for your living room.

No, it is a way for the forum to indict itself--namely, by letting me indict it.

I get the feeling you don't really grasp ConTrad. Prove me wrong.

In case the challenge isn't clear: post a photo of your living room so I can mercilessly critique it.

    No thanks.

When you are at the level with interiors that you are with clothing I will consider your opinion, as I do with clothing, but until then I think you need to keep refining your approach.

Whatever "level" I'm at with clothing is not a function of being specifically attuned to clothing.

Anyway, my judgment is open for the world to see. If it is poor, it will be evident.

You'd gain more insight into my style from my study, which is not yet complete, so I will not post it.
