These are amazing. There's been a few pairs on b&s, but they were a half size too small for me. :(

    Thanks, @Shawnc & @naspratt !

Got these from their eBay store. These are seconds with some stitching issues under the lacing. Can't recall seeing cordovan monkey boots readily available anywhere in a while. There's some calf leather options regularly available but haven't seen navy shell anywhere.

I've always loved these, pc78. A simple brown shell plain toe, regardless of shade, is exactly what I want at some point. Im going to be picking up the longwings in that shade in a few weeks. I may cave and do a
Armagnac shell ptb through Carmina at some point. Ill see how the detroit lasts works for me feet and then decide. I have a feeling that in my barrie size it will be perfect.

FYI, I have found that Detroit is equal in length to Barrie size minus .5 (Barrie 10.5 = Detroit 10). Girth is roughly equal.

I would snap some pics but I'm now out of town for the holidays. :(

Clearly, it was easier to come by shell in 1937 if they even used it on the sole. Amazing.

Basically exactly what I'm looking for. Unfortunately, while I was participating on various preorders, my size in this one sold out, but would have like to try it. Im skeptical of EB because from what Ive read they a high instep and my higher instep is average to low. I must admit thats a great shoe. Sky valet in DC has a brown shell grasmere on danite but not in my size. The search continues... Its all part of the fun.

I appreciate it. So in theory, an 11D Barrie is roughy equal to 10.5uk in Detroit, is what you're saying? Barrie is already pretty roomy beyond what I need so I guess illl start with the 10.5uk and see what happens. Maybe one day I'll finally accept I need narrower sizes instead of buying high volume stuff all the time lol

Yes, I would say so. But if you have a narrow foot, I'm not sure it's the best fit for you?? How does Barrie feel?

    Hi guys,

Need a bit of advice please!

Ordered a pair of MTO Meermin Shell Cordovans.

Shoes were received with marks on them (looks like white steaks). Sent them back to Meermin once already to polish, and same marks came back - see attached photos.

What do you think these are? Can these be polished out?

I've read conflicting things on various websites so not sure - don't want to send them back again as get stung for shipping and duties everytime!

Meermin have offered a refund so not sure if the shoes are faulty or just need a better polish.

    Many thanks!

Hmmm....this is a curious case indeed. Not all that uncommon for shell cordovan actually.

If they were mine, here is what I would do:

    1. Saphir Renovator-Work it vigorously into the leather, not unsparingly, but liberally. Let them sit overnight.

    2. Horse hair brush-Vigorously as well. 5-10 min each shoe.

    3. If the streaks are still there. Repeat steps 1 and 2 a few more times.

If the patina that emerges is not to your liking, you may want to consider a full refund.

    Thanks.

Barrie is a good fit at 1/2 down but they're CXL and have stetched a bit over time. The length is good. The heel is a bit wide but in C width my toes are cramped. Thanks again for the advice!
