cost of mag + postage + plus a little more, pm me.

btw just got back from the rake 1st anniversary party in singapore, pretty dire dress standards overall. i do feel the last couple issues (6 & 7) have seen a slight drop in quality, and more commercialism and advertisement influence - boss selection, raoul etc. hope it doesn't become another GQ.

Do you still have issues 1 and 3 available ?

I thought I'd share with you the terrific customer-service experience I just had with the Rake. I have been a subscriber since June 2009, but somehow did not receive the Tom Ford issue (ah, the vagaries of international mail). I sent an e-mail to "subscription services" informing them that I had not recieved the issue and asking if a copy could be sent to me. I received a response within hours from Melanie Lam, the Rake's Circulation Executive. She apologized that the issue had gotten lost in the mail and said she was sending a copy to me via Fedex international priority. I had the issue in my hands two days thereafter. I could not have asked for more responsive customer service.

If you have issues lost in the mail, tell them. I think you'll be pleased with the response.

Still on the fence about getting a subscription. It's very expensive, but it looks fantastic from what I've seen around the web. Speaking of which, I've been collecting as many articles as I can find in the "official" PDF format. So far the ones I've been able to find are from the interview at A Continuous Lean: Anderson & Sheppard The Thomas Crown Affair (with Steve McQueen) Charvet And there are a few on Timothy Everest's site: Bentley Boys Timothy Everest (profile) Get Carter Anybody else have any to share? "Official" PDFs preferred - especially ones that are not elsewhere available on the internet.

Since I keep getting requests for the magazine, I might as well post here. Sorry, but I'm not doing the proxy anymore. It was done at cost for goodwill, so that people could get a taste of the magazine before subscribing for themselves. There was lots of hassle - shipping seemed to take a while despite the cost and even though I'd said that I couldn't take responsibility after posting, I still worried. Some guys were great, others less so. So no more proxying.

In any case, the magazine seems to have gone downhill over the past couple of issues with too much pandering, paid editorials and less of the interesting articles that made the first few issues good reading. So I'm not going to renew my subscription and will pick up a copy from the newsagents if it looks promising.

Why don't you just subscribe? Talk to them and they'll probably let you start the subscription from issue 8. My own subscription has expired with issue 9 and I'm probably not renewing and just picking them up from the newstands, which seem to get them earlier than me.

I was kicking it around, but Ive heard some not so good stories about the shipping to the US, and I like picking them up from SFers here after a read or two.
