    Read the thread.

And/or PM the user called Notch.

Also, No Man Walks Alone (see link under affiliates to your right) sell some Vass lines that they've had made up to their own preferences. An easy option if you're in the US.

I have a lot of AS, only 2 pairs of Carmina, I would see the uppers are similar, but AS sole finishing is better.

Look out for AFPOS deals, with free lasted trees and free shipping, beats Carmina for quality and value.

A Fine Pair of Shoes, they are an affiliated vendor, or can just google it.

Thanks for the help. Now I'm just trying to decide if the AS are worth the extra $80 or so over the Carminas.

If you buy from AFPOS then there is practically no price difference as you get free lasted shoe trees

AFPOS is having a 25% off promotion so AS works out to be cheaper than Carminas. Garb it before it expires tomorrow

Wurger, the excellent shoe blog Claymoor's List has many photos from inside the Vass workshop. While the pairs truly are handmade in the full sense, the inner welt attachment stitches and stitches visible on its surface are far from tight, this is the Vass way of speeding up the arduous process a bit. Now this is not to say they are poor, but any other cordwainer would likely insist on tight stitches for a more refined and challenging whole, something to separate the boys from the men. Case in point, all Japanese makers are on another level entirely and I'm unsure whether theirs are inherently better-made just because stitches are as tight as thry come. They're just different.

My apologies for the overload of questions, but where did you see the 25% off deal for AFPOS or did I miss it? The time zone difference is killing me LoL
