That's really cute, little guy, but there's a pretty firm rule in these parts on how we speak of wives and families. You're about a mile over the line and I'll just let the mods deal with it.

Ugh- tried some Italian varietals from local vineyards the other day.... I'll stick with the crab juice.

Some great juice from Trefethen. Brought it to a restaurant last night, popped it, and poured after 30 minutes w/o decanting. It is really singing right now, blackberry fruit and some mild vanilla oakiness with a silky elongated finish. I was gonna save half the bottle for tonight but it was too good to put down. :nodding:

Holy crap! Just was invited to the home of one of the state's biggest wine distributors. He's having Lynch over and tasting through a portfolio. It's a Tuesday on the other side of town though. :(

Whoa, that's pretty cool. What are you going to wear to the tasting? Isn't it still really hot where you live? Maybe you could wear a sleeveless shirt.

    Colloquially, they're known as wifebeaters.

Just so we're clear, you are picking up my wine bill at Urasawa.

I also don't think I can make it to the tasting unless I can move something on my schedule. :(

Jokes aside: you gotta clear your schedule to go to a wine tasting with Kermit Lynch. I mean, unless a thousand people are going to be there or something.

Sounds like he's going to have about 10 or so couples over, at last two of which I know.

I was honoured to be part of a pretty big treat last night. Met up with two other couples at our favorite venue just a few minutes from the house. One of the gents has a pretty extensive holding of both Grange and Hill of Grace (pretty sure I've posted pics from his cellar here before.) He surprised everyone, including the somm, by bringing up an 86 Grange from his cellar. Holy shit. Thirty years old now and still a knock out punch. Mocha on both nose and taste and toss in chocolate on the tongue. Smokey, cedar notes, some faint licorice or anise, lots of purple fruit like ripe plumbs, tannins still indicating this bottle can go for years, and a really long finish with a mineral aspect (thinking chalk.) To say this blew anything else out of the water last night would be an understatement.

This guy proved once again he rocks. :slayer:

$13 CDN--- so good. Grabbed a case. Solid everyday-day-drinker.
