I would depending on the shoes and their condition. If they're shell, then I'd highly consider it.

If they're shoes that sell in like new condition on the bay for 50-75% of a recrafting, then I'll go that route unless the fit is too good to start over.

Would they resew a the pinch on the loafer? There is a slight gap when you flex the shoe between the two pieces of leather at the seam.

Passed through Nashville on my way south today. Didn't have much luck at the thrifts, but I stopped by a local menswear consignment... Good God. Coming from a city without an really high end menswear retailers, this place was like heaven. So much Alden, Cucinelli, Filson, Corneliani, Canali... And the Loro Piana.

So. Much. Loro. Two whole racks full of the highest end Loro Piana. I had no idea what "buttery soft" leather really was. It's good I left my wallet in the car with my wife or I would have emptied the bank account. (Because nothing was even remotely close to thrift prices. I would be lucky to get some of those prices on ebay).

I also thrifted an REI Taj 3 tent. Hopefully it's all good... After this storm pass I'll set it up in my backyard and check it out.
