That not-quite-Madras would indeed look fine among our local would-be Thurston Howells.

Love the look except the white cadigan ... just doesn't go well, IMO. I would've gone with a diff color

Rad stuff. Super jealous of TBen's overcoat.

    One stop today:

Banana Republic Vintage Safari Vest (L). I thought it was pretty cool so I took a chance:

Thanks for the tip! I've been wanting to do our master closet but don't want to spend California Closet type money. This looks right up my alley.
Wow! This is the best non-clothing find I've seen on here in a long time! :slayer:
Whoa! I've never found/seen Mont Blanc anything in Minnesota besides once at a discount store...

I can't remember the exact terminology but Lee used to use denim with fringed edges like that. It's more like the standard selvage on a bolt of fabric instead of the closed edge people are so fond of in vintage/'premium' denim. So maybe not exactly selvedge/selvage because it isn't woven into itself at the edge. There is probably a lot of debate about this subject actually... I think it's mostly semantics.

So if what I wrote is a jumbled mess... Yes, that's what would be considered a selvage 'edge' but it's MAYBE not denim from the fancy narrow shuttle looms that is so sought after. I don't know enough about looms to say for certain.

I looked it up I think the term is fringe-edge VS tucked/self-edge

    EDIT:

ringring is the one true god of denim knowledge, so I think this post could help clear things up.

Awesome! I keep my rejection letters when I'm lucky enough to get them in hard copy. Add that one to the file with pride!

Funny, I like the white cardigan but not the plaid shirt. Feels too casual for the overcoat.
