That sample garment phrase on the back of the tag bothers me.

The label looks '20s style to me. Most of the completed listings are for '40s & '50s, and the closest label I've found was from a '20s version that sold on a vintage clothing dealer's site. I have a feeling someone on here will have a knowledge base of these. :)

Is it me or does that red tag look off? And shouldn't the selvage ID be red like the on the 514s I found today? [IMG]

Is the question whether they're vintage or LVC repros?

Definitely not vintage, though you probably know that. For all the ins-and-outs to modern Levi's and LVCs, I'll leave it to the experts.

Naw, the ticker usually is red on Levi's but on cases they did use different colors. I think I see yellow. It could also be the lighting/wear making the red ear looks a bit faded. I've seen older selvedge turned from red to pink. It's kinda hard to date samples but the tags don't look vintage to me. @Nataku what do you think? Where's @troika when you need him?

Also picked up this badass BB hand tailored thing - ticket pocket, dual exhaust, 3roll2 46R available.

Then these two gorgeous H. Freeman and Sons bespokes - both about a trim 42R/L-ish available.

Ok, after looking at the tag for a bit, I think it's a LVC sample 501 modeled after the 1955's. The numbers are very similar to those of that model. What is the fit like? Straight or tapered? 1955 should be a straight led. Button fly or zipper? Does it have hidden rivets? The cell-bitch [IMG] also looks very similar to LVC 1955 501. Since it's a sample, they might have taken out the R on the big E. Does it have Levi's on both side of the tag? A sample might not.

    Edit: FOUND IT!!!

Sometimes it's worth having an assload of snowbirds occupying your town for 4 months out of the year.

Bumping this because I rarely find good SW&D stuff.

Personally, I would have kopped the giant BB tweed if it was in good condition and the price was right. There are always some bigger dudes looking to trade, and while it may take some time to sell, there is definitely a market for big guy stuff on ebay.

+1 on these being a LVC repro.
Wow! That is an amazing find - well done! Label definitely looks older than 40's-50's. I've never seen one before but it's definitely a cool piece.
All of the vintage Levis that I recall seeing on here and on eBay have either a very faded line to where I didn't notice it or they just simply had the white edge. Definitely repro. That Levis "Made in the USA" label is pretty recent. It's computer printed. I'd say they are no less than 15 years old.

I actually checked ebay to see if the size even existed! I couldn't find even one completed auction. It was marked a "XXLarge" or such. I'll post some pictures. I decided not to get it also because the lapels looked really old and not in a good way.

The price was right though. Maybe it'll still be there when I return. Psyched about my first golden fleece suit though! :)

Also, Zegna's come in sets. In the last 2 weeks, I've found: 1 tux jacket, 1 pair pants, 1 pair shoes, and an ugly ass tie.

    @hooker4186 , those H. Freeman's are freaking gorgeous!

See, Nat agrees with me! [IMG]

But, anyhow, I'm 100% sure it's LVC 1955, 501 sample. I would like to say "thank you" or "thanks" to @troika in a sarcastic tone for getting me obsessed about raw denim...Yeah, thanks, buddy!
