I'd say go with 40R and drop the sleeves, a shorter body on a tweed jacket looks better IMO.

I would disagree that a cashmere plaid 3/2 blazer by zenga is in any way a -1

Was trying to stay out of this for fear of being told to fuck off again, but he's just saying you spelled Zegna incorrectly.

I'm gonna agree. "zenga" is definitely a -1.

Thrift fit. I took heed of admonitions and went with a blue shirt/larger scale, and subtracted 1 pattern with solid square.

I may have been unclear. I'd go smaller on the shirt scale. And the orange in the tie is really fighting the orange in the jacket. Go solid navy, solid burgundy (grenadine if you have them) or, in a pinch, a micro dot. You could also do a stripe, but the scale will have to be just right -- not so small as to fight the shirt not so large as to fight the jacket. Square/jacket combo is very pleasing, as are the shoes. I'd also go light gray flannel for the trou. Just MHO.

I don't know why Ian catches so much shit for his command of the written word. Several thread contributors are far worse. However, they routinely find better better things than ol' Ian and are not 18 years old, so I guess it's not kosher to talk down to them.

Experimenting with a new picture-taking spot. Does the white brick background say hip and non-threatening or "come here, small child"? I'm still messing with lighting, so maybe I'll go with something like no. 2 and not have to worry about it.

Anyway, my first good finds in a while.

Recent Corneliani. Tagged 52 L (US size). Silk/wool blend.

Recent Oxxford "Range 1" suit. Tagged 50 L.

This thing is really, really nice. Pad stitching, etc.

Pro white brick background: I actually think it looks pretty good. Especially in the first pic.
Con white brick background (if it's for eBay, etc): If I were a buyer and saw it, I might think, "oh, this person keeps all the clothes in a dank musty basement. who knows how long it's been down there, etc." even though I have no idea what the surrounding area is like.

    My $0.02

My son is almost 9. As to what he'll wear...it depends on his mode. Right now it's all jock clothes and Nike Elite socks.

The pictures themselves are fine, I think. It does give it a sort of "prison" or "mental asylum" feel, but I'm not sure I would have noticed that had you not mentioned it.
