Hey gang. New member, long time lurker. Looking forward to contributing some. My haul for the weekend, $110 for all of it. Not give away prices by any means, but I do feel I did pretty well for my money. Will be keeping these items, but will post other stuff that's available occasionally.

I just want to thank all the regulars here in the forum for showing me the ropes. I've only been thrifting for 2 months or so and it is a really fun and profitable hobbie. It all began last year when I decided to change my life, i was over weight, I went low carb and changed my eating habits and within 5 months had dropped 50 pounds. That is when I began looking for new clothes. I started buying new stuff(that was stupid) and eventually ended up here. This place has basically got my dressers and closet bursting through the seams with high quality clothes i never could have affored to buy new, Brooks Brothers, Canali, Hickey, Loro Piana, and on and on for free. I really must thank all of you for the knowledge that is given either directly or indirectly in this thread on a daily basis.

I'm easily clearing $500-1,000 a month flipping on ebay in my spare time and enjoy the thrill of the hunt. I spent 8 hours thrifting yesterday and found my first Hermes tie, then at the next stop a nearly new Burberry Trench double breasted with wool liner that fit me perfect, and a Hugo Boss leather coat that also fit me well.

The amount of high end clothing I have found in 2 months is astonishing to me, it really shows the amount of waste in this country. I feel like a fool for years of buying RL Polo shirts at Macy's for $40, when I can find 25 of them with ease at one thrift shop for $5.00.

I have no idea why anyone would buy Jos A Bank clothing new, the thrift shops feel like Jos A Bank factory stores lol.

I have no doubt I could quit my day job and make a comfortable middle class living going through rich people's piss stained clothing all day [IMG]

As for now it just makes a really fun hobby and nothing beats the adrenaline rush of finding an awesome piece of clothing for $5 that fits perfectly.

I'm pretty happy with by $400, which will, um, almost pay for my expenses in LA (yes, I bought the jeans, and yes, that may have been a poor use of a little less than two months of cell phone bills).

Wow, amazing stuff. I especially love the polo pants (I'd make an exception to my no-pleats rule for those) and the Paraboot shoes.

I got my Kiton 2 weeks ago on a really nice 7 fold, actually it was my first 7 fold and kiton all in one :) Picked up a really nice Oxxford tie at that same store that day. I've pretty much got all the major tie brands the last 2-3 months.

I just haven't gotten around to selling many of them yet, I probably have anywhere from 50-70 ties in a box waiting to put up.

    Thanks everyone for the congrats!

It was cool, but even though it was my size (44), it was quite snug for me.

I don't keep much that I find, but.....

Renovation update. Got the new floors sanded and 3 coats of finish applied this weekend. A few more coats to do tonight, in between ebay packages. Should be moving back in on Thursday. Touch up paint and a little trim work remains before I can finally assemble my new closet system...which was the initial start of this project. All of my home improvement projects spiral wildly out of control.

$2.99 deep clearance at Kohls, plus we had Kohls cash, so it was actually free. If you've seen my thrifting/ebay area, you would know the graphic is fitting of a fella like me.

Also got this one for $1.99. Not sure which one I like best...it's very close. [IMG]

Wes and other experienced eBayers: Found this torso-stand combo for $80, am thinking about going in for one. Does it look serviceable to you? Is there anything in the page that says to you it sucks/would break?

I'm only slightly nervous about the wooden legs. I have a coat stand with that style "tripod" that I have had to repair twice. Of course it carries a bit more weight. Otherwise looks like a decent set up.

A few pick ups from the weekend. The local thrifts seem dryer than rice in the desert.
