We really should put Hans's helpful post and links to Org's article and similar beginner-friendly articles at the beginning of this thread.

Plus maybe links to related threads (ID this maker, eBay discussion, etc.)

That's a good idea. We could procure some links and just throw them in the initial post or somewhere easy to find and direct newcomers there.

Thanks. I bought it to flip. Might just cut my losses and sell as is instead of putting more time into it.

I don't post much on the thread but I do read every day. I follow the thread religiously. I find it funny that it's always Christian Dior when it comes to the noobs. In my 10 years of thrifting I don't think I've ever purchased anything Christian Dior or even the found a good Dior.

    Making contacts at shops?

Do you guys try and make contacts at shops or stores so they can hold or at least make you aware of good items that hit the stores? Any tips?

I met a girl at a 2nd hand store that specializes in taking business clothing donations. Kinda like a goodwill, but all they deal in is clothes. Last time at the store we where talking about coffee so the next time I came by I gave her a bag of my favorite blend. She without me asking said hey give me your contact info and if any good suits hit the rack in your size I'll let you know. Today I picked up 2 really nice suits for $20 each 1 still had tags that she put on hold for me.

Seems like getting to know the staff is really paying off because when I walked in more than 1 guy was trying to purchase the suits she put on hold and I'm sure they wouldn't have lasted until I happened to walk in on a lunch break.

You met a girl who's into coffee, thrifting, clothing... and is putting stuff on hold for you? If she's cute, I'd put a ring on that finger. [IMG]

Looks great. I'm a big fan of the "lay flat" method. I've tried mannequins, busts, hanging on a hanger with a shower-curtain for the background, etc but honestly I've found it easiest to just lay flat. I didn't notice any difference in ending prices between laying it flat on the ground with a neutral colored background and good lighting than I did with a bust, dress shirt, tie, etc.

    :slayer:

I wasn't even aware they made wool shirts. That is awesome!

I'd jump on that if it were a size smaller!

Catch and release. Killer POW check Caruso (I think?) overcoat with LP fabric. Priced up. Decent price for personal use but too high for flipping. Fit me perfectly but too long for my taste.

Really why is that? I honestly don't have a lot of time outside of a lunch break here and there with a young one at home.
Far from cute, but to be honest I was just being nice I wasn't really expecting anything in return. However now that I've got an "inside" contact I'm not complaining at all.

It pained me to leave it behind, but the price made it a little easier to take. At half-price, I'd be all over it.
