Thanks for the contrasting opinion @Munky
The AirMax is indeed well known for comfort. I do have my own personal reasons for not buying Nike products, but this isn't a political forum, so I'll let it alone.

Having not decided by leaving for Paris, I am splitting my time between a pair of Innov8 minimalist off-road sneakers that served me well in Thailand (daytime) and Allen Edmonds brogues (evening). My feet appear to be faring well.

Upon returning to London, I may pivot, and purchase a pair of Curch's suede chukkas. Perhaps even in a rakish color that will offend some sensibilities.

Butteros have been on my radar a while. But then I just recently learned of Saint-Jean de Paris.

Hand-made full grain weave. May be worth a try.

Tried to find them, quick google search didn't return anything. Can you link to their website? If you'd rather PM to keep from clogging up the thread that's fine.

If you need something that may be able to handle some occasion rain fall as well, then Buttero's sneakers are worth it. Otherwise, those St.-Jean de Paris looks like cool summer shoes.

Worth posting if it draws any commentary. I actually do wonder if woven leather shoes tend to stretch a lot or have any special care requirements.

Does anybody prefer transparent shoe wax over black shoe wax for black leather shoes? I have been using black wax for a mirror polish but am not quite satisfied with the final result (still not reading the time on my watch). I have been using Burgol by the way.

Some people like the neutral wax over colored wax, there's no wrong really, but if you're not getting the results you want it is likely the brand of polish and less about the color. I have experienced varied results across product lines. Also to throw another wrench into it weather affects it and of your your temperament.

Burgol is not going to give you a mirror finish. The wax is soft and creamy, not solid and "hard". You need something else other than Burgol's wax.

Watch some spitshine, or bulling, or mirror shine videos on YouTube, get the materials, ingredients, and some free time, then practice, and find out more about the so called "secret of the trade".

Apart from Carmina, any notable bootmakers in Barcelona I may not be aware of, coming from the states? Heading there in a week.

I suppose either, though I'm keen on boots presently. I'm in barcelona for the better part of a week. Looking for some eye candy - see if anything grabs me.

Barcelona eye candy is all on the beach. A different kind of pair, but thousands of 'em. All exposed to the sun, but no noticeable patina.

I know we don't talk a lot about suede on here but I recently heard that steaming suede shoes often is important.

Does anyone know more about this or do it yourselves?
