    Hey guys,

So I finished my first pair. Really simple, and not much of a challenge after you understand how the dye lays down.

I had a question though, how long should I wait to apply leather conditioner and then polish these after applying the dye?

Let me know what you all think.

Job well done though the outcome is a bit flashy for my taste.
I usually wait approx. 10-20 min before applying conditioner.

Appreciate that Crat. Your posts were actually one of the main resources that led me into this.

I do hope to do some more sophisticated looking work later on. These were a practice run on a disposable pair of Cole Haans. Figured I'd push the envelope and see how the dyes blend and work into the leather. Thanks for the info, I'll be coating these in some leather honey and then doing a mirror shine in the morning to finish off that flashy theme. I'll post some images if it turns out half alright.

I would wait overnight. Dye smell doesn't dissipate that quickly.

And it looks like you didn't strip enough.

Looking good btw, flashy but matches your streetwear look well

    Dye smell?
Mine is odourless, I think. Or atleast it doesn't have a prnetrant smell. Or maybe I've just gotten used to it

I've had a lot of questions lately, I hope you all don't mind. Fairly new to this.

On the images above of the shoe I just completed I was fairly confident in mixing brown, red, and black cream polishes, just to restore color and condition over time.

On the toe, however, I am planning to do a mirror today. Do wax polishes blend, lets say black and neutral? I'd just like the brilliance of black polish for the black section of the toe. Possible, or am I stuck with neutral for the entire thing?

I ended up taking that advice, thank benhour

Also, thank you everyone. After finding this site 2 weeks ago, I've learned much about the craft of shoe shine and even patina, and it all started after finding a jar of Meltonian polish in the closet. Maybe not directly, but many of you have posted valuable information in the past that has created a database of knowledge for the inquiring mind. I finished my first pair today, and am beyond pleased as a first run, and learned it all right here. So thanks again and I owe you all a beer. Haha, cheers.
