You guys are neglecting the other route - the 99! Travel Joad style, slow, but there are lots of places to eat along the way. I drove the 99 back from Nevada City last year and found a great hole in the wall mexican joint with excellent chile verde and house made corn tortillas in Modesto (or Merced, can't remember). And then you can stop in Bakersfield for Basque food or for Ice Cream at Dewars.

Oh great, just one more thing for the tourism board to add to their brochure. There was one time when the water supply in that area became non potable because they found some E. coli in it. Then there was the time when it was 90F at 10PM, and the electricity for that area went out.

That part of 33 is actually pretty nice. Not quite as scenic as when you're in the forest but still very nice

    Loaded A7 you're looking at 72K-ish. Load CLS mid 80's. Loaded 645GC high 80s/low 90's.

All three are gorgeous cars, can;t go wrong, but Audi is just killing it in terms of value compared to the others.

All this talk of Audi is making me miss my 2001 S4. Great car. Expensive to keep up. 200k miles of good times.

Man I've been having lots of problems with my car over the years but thing is there's nothing as fun and versatile to drive that comes in a fucking manual.

Think I may just have to do a 997 gt3.

S4 is a great car, was that a B5 S4? I had a B7 S4, super fun, but not nearly as sweet as my M3.

Dude, new GT3 is fucking drool worthy. Nealy every dealer has already sold their order slots. Can't go wrong with a 997 GT3 though. Then again all thsi talk of L.A. FWY's, daily driving a GT3 would probbaly get old. Fast.

Bro I've sat for hundreds of hours in traffic on the 405 with a manual, wouldn't have it any other way.

Have done the same, but it's not the traffic, it's the road quality...

(and it's not the transmission, it's the suspension)

So, I've only been here for four weeks now, but if you're hitting up downtown Santa Monica, then check out the Misfit. I was pleasantly surprised to find a place in their neighborhood with proper cocktails. The food is decent too.

Also, I feel like I speak for myself, Stanley Van Buren and his wife when I say that we're down for a serious Max Karaoke party at some point this season.

If you're stuck in the Promenade area, I agree Misfit is a decent option. Drinks and food are both decent-not-great, although I thought the crowd was a bit douchey. (Of course, I'm a cranky old guy who thinks most crowds are douchey, so take that for what it's worth.)

    Oh, and welcome. :)

I would say Copa d'Oro is your best bet in the area...judging from their Happy Hour - $5 cocktails (very decent too!)

    Is South Willard still open/trading?

Their response via email used to be great, but I've enquired twice over the past couple of weeks about a re-stock on the Crescent Down Works X SW parkas, and had no reply.
