I'm sure someone in the US is in a need for for a pair of New Reys if they end up not fitting you. Your size is fairly common so I doubt you need to go through too much trouble to sell them forward.

Anybody have experience with the Rain last ordered in a wider width then standard? I'm a US 10.5 but when I tried on a Rain 9.5 it felt unusually roomy and the 9 felt too tight over the instep. I'm guessing that a 9 EE would be the sweet spot. Can anybody chime in?

    Thanks

Has anybody noticed they had to size down a full size going from Simpson to Rain/Inca?

Are you a narrow width? It's possible. But if you are a standard D width I don't think I've ever heard that. Simpson is narrower then the rain but maybe only a half size.

A full size? Here's my experience

    Rain: size 6
    Simpson: size 6.5

    for comparison:
    All G&G lasts: size 6
    EG 82, 888: size 6

So, I can see 1/2 size, but not one full size.

I'm sure it's only half size too big. It's just that I got some monks and there's no good way to tighten them, as compared to lace shoes. That's why they feel a lot bigger than other shoes where I have half sized up without issue.

Also, for the record, has anyone any experience with fastening the buckles on the double monks? It seems to be impossible to do up the last hole.

I have the inca monks. I can't go to the last hole. I don't need to do it, I'm good on the middle hole anyways. I think if you have to tighten them that much then the shoes isn't a good fit.

Last hole seems to be for decoration, especially the strap by the toe.

I wear UK 11 in Rain and can't wear UK 11.5 Simpson comfortably but I have wideish feet and a quite high instep, on the other hand I have clients who can wear the same size in Rain and Simpson. But the most common thing is to size up half a size from Rain to Simpson.

I can wear a monk in the Simpson, but I can't lace any oxfords properly. My instep is too thick.

Yea I was just wondering whether to size down 1/2 or full.

I'm just wondering, because the buckle is elastic, does your feet come out of the shoe?

No not really, the slippage is very minimal.

    Hey all,

Was hoping to get some sizing advice. My sizes are as follows:

    10.5D Brannock size
10E in the Allen Edmonds 5-last
    10D in Alden Barrie
    10D in Alden Truebalance
    10.5D in Alden Hampton

Any comments on what size I might take in the common/popular Carmina lasts?

    Thanks in advance!

This seems as good a place as any for this question. Anyone know which Carmina last this is? About to list them on Ebay and want to represent them correctly. [IMG]

I'm considering getting some jumper boots from skoak (model 80184). The website says this Oscar last shoe is normal width so I guess I should get my normal UK size since I have normal width feet?

Allen Edmonds Park Avenue 5 last 8D US - great fit
Meermin Double Monk Hiro 7UK - a little bit of heel slip
Meermin Balmoral Olfe 7UK - great fit
    C&J/RL Lindrick 7.5US/7UK - great fit
