This is really good to hear. I live about 10 minutes from his shop and I never knew it existed. I have some shoes and boots that need freshening up, so I'll have to give him a shout. I love this thread.

Aram is very good. I have yet to meet a cobbler in the Metro DC area (or beyond really) who is as helpful, friendly, and skilled. I trust his work and ability, and he will explain anything and candidly tell you if he cannot do something.

This would be a scenario for reverse tobacco chamois. Extra pre-treatment with Obenauf's prior to hitting clubs would be an important barrier method.

This may be one time that I frown against patina. A Vegas club is no way to build character.

Unfortunately, some variance within even the same size can occur. This is partially due to the size changes of the lasts with weather and due to the amount of tension applied to the leather when it is pulled over the Last. I have had similar experiences with Allen Edmonds as well. Those are all Barrie. Alden has not made a Shell LWB not on the Barrie in recent history to my knowledge. Only have seen a Natty CXL on the Leydon recentlyish.
Yes, it is due to their construction techniques. Always recommend trying a pair on even if it is "your size".
It is always a good day for a Ravello LWB. Patience is a virtue my friend. They will sell. Just takes the right person with the right sized foot... :)
Very interesting. Looking good. Hope it fits you well.
Yenni is great. She does a good job and has lots of enthusiasm. Those WT Boots are very nice. You may want to check out B. Nelson or Aram (Ah One) for the eyelets. I have had work done by each.
Shawn took good care of you! Those are a fantastic model!!!
Your new Color 8 Tankers are looking great. Enjoy them in the best health.
Looking great in your LHSes! It is hard for me to think of you wearing boots as I believe you mainly wear LHSes at this point.
Your Ravello Daytrippers are looking fantastic. One of Alden's finest makeups!
Don, your Cigar LHSes are looking terrific. A lovely model.
That is a fantastic makeup and looks great with you Epaulets. The Color on the upper looks great and I agree with someone else's comment that it looks closer to my #2 LWBs.
Mac, your King PT Boots are looking fantastic. They have the perfect shine as always.
Your Cap Toe Bluchers are looking very good and a very practical model. I hope that you enjoyed them!
E, it is always a good day for Ravello. You are looking great!
You are looking good and ready to take on the weather. I hope that you kept drier.
Looking good in your classical 975s!
Your Color 8 CT Boots are looking great BK! A beautiful and well rounded model.
Those Alt Wiens are looking great Mike! Thanks for informing us.
Z, your PT Boots are looking good and are a fantastic shade of Cigar.
Mac, as always, your Whiskey PTBs are looking terrific and pair very well with your Argyles and khakis.
The other DV, your CXLs are looking very good. Those are great pictures, thanks for posting.
Wow, those are some well used Indy boots. They both look great.
Your NSTs are looking great JSO, enjoy them sir!
PreppyReppie, your Jcrews are looking very good!
Your LWBs are looking very good. The material combo on those are great.
Your 974s are looking terrific. I am not so sold on the denim pairing, but I tend to be on the more conservative size.
Smooth, not certain as you would like, but think that you can have at least Toppys and heels replaced without a problem. I wouldn't redo the whole sole though and expect to be able have Alden resole them.
    Your LWBs are looking good.
Looking good. I like Color 8 and Antique but also really like the classic Color 8 and Black. It's a more timeless combo.
It takes some serious tenacity to crease those guys... :)
Your Cigar LWBs are looking very good. Frankly, those could probably be passed off as Ravello nowadays.
Vegas isn't exactly my cup of tea, but enjoy your time there! -Mike

Agreed, but I wasn't going to begrudge someone their attempt to have a good time. Just thought I'd take the question regarding which Aldens for which situations seriously. The answer would be the same if the original poster had asked about how to avoid getting boots ruined at a make-your-own-sundae children's birthday party.

If they are color #8, I fail to see anything to fear in a variety of environments. People wear their Aldens hiking, in mud, in filthy and gritty city streets (New York, New Orleans, Paris, London, and San Francisco et al. all come to mind).

In my view, you should enjoy your shoes and wear them-whatever that means to you. Shell is a resilient material and bounces back from most hard abuse. Just be more careful with lighter shades that are more prone to obvious staining.

Patina is great. I want my 907s to look like this eventually (only black):

    Cheers fellows.

I buy to wear. If they get trashed, I can always get another. It's just really odd to have it on the side of the boot.

Help me out Alden aficionados - in Spectre does Bind wear Alden suede boots at one point. Milkshake in colour I am pretty sure they are Alden but cannot find anything about it. Anyone know?

I am waiting for eBay oh so slow Global Shipping to finally deliver a pair of Alden X Leffot Coonet boots. I cannot wait for them to arrive.

I don't think bond wore any Alden in the movie. You may take a look at of what did he wear in Spectre in this website.

All his footwear is C&J in Spectre. Some have Dainite soles. which end up being visible in one or two scenes.

I'm pretty sure that this has been the case ever since Casino Royale. Apparently Daniel Craig is a huge CJ fanboy and insisted. The company didn't jump on the marketing train until Spectre, though.

C&J had Bond marketing around the shoe lineup in Skyfall. I'm not sure about the earliest two movies, but I recall viewing some marketing for them as well.
