One time the time share hawker guy around the corner from Leather Soul asked if I was wearing Aldens. I wasn't.

I've seen a couple guys wearing Indy boots but that's about it in terms of Alden sightings.

I had somebody ask me if I was wearing whiskey boots. Of course we got into a quick conversation on alden boots. I see indy boots all the time in soho and on subways. have yet to see shell boots in the wild.

so what is this about shell and brass eyelets no longer an option? did alden change some policies recently?

Yes, they did. It's limited to Color 8 from what I know. May also apply to Cigar and maybe Ravello.

What’s a good conditioner for some 405s, that wouldn't darken them?

I had my Indys 405 for about a year (they're my first GYW purchase) and would only occasionally brush them and maybe a bit Jason Markk to clean the welt.

I was thinking of some Lexol or Alden Fine Boot cream. Will the Alden Dark Brown one color them? Is this thing any good?

Use alden neutral boot cream on my 405s. It did not darken them.

I think people see a lot more Aldens than you realize, it's just that a lot of them are pretty hard to distinguish from other shoes in real life scenarios. if I showed you a picture of an Alden LWB and an AE MacNeil next to each other would you be able to tell the difference? I'm sure, yes.

what if you saw someone wearing a longwing across the hallway and he just walked by you quickly? much harder to recognize exactly what it is. ditto for lots of Alden styles which are their most common. the raw count of navy blue CXL boots that are produced makes them hard to spot in the wild, I agree, but I would guess the vast majority of sold Aldens are in their traditional styles and thus harder to pick out of the crowd

Brass today like DV, but with snuff suede. I would be too paranoid in white suede, but looking great!

Unfortunately that is my understanding of the situation as it stands. I asked someone to reach out to the factory before this was put out, but haven't heard anything back yet. If they already have a confirmed order, it may go through. We will see. They may also lift this, I don't know.
You are certainly staying classy there DV!
I am with you on White Suede. I would be too worried and I am pretty sure that I can't pull it off. -Mike

So annoying. That takes the hope of MANY a cool makeup out of the running ever again (and I mean direct from the factory). Why they want to so badly control aesthetic while still letting retailers create makeups is beyond me.

If they just need conditioning, Lexol or Bick 4 don't darken much at all IME.

Yeah, I am pretty sure our Brass friends will again be reacquainted with their favorite cobbler.

FB parajumpers are confirmed. I'm getting a pair through my German relative.
