Thanks! @KPDarb That's what I thought too but as they don't have plain toe boots I wanted to check.
Also the model I tried had the usual cork sole and heel pad. The ones I'm looking after are on a commando sole, but this shouldn't affect the overall fit.

mdubs really showing the full gambit of Alden Whiskeys. Those PTBs could easily pass for a nice light shade of Ravello and they get lighter as you scroll down. Beautiful!

Thanks KDubs. Forgot to do my [/spoiler] for you!

Thanks. I love the Longwings. A good friend calls me the Longwing Maven.

Thanks Hand, it's funny because that is essentially oldest to newest. I find that the Whiskeys tend to lighten immediately and then slowly darken towards the medium brown colors.

My lord those ravello NST boots are insanely beautiful. Initially I didn't get all the hype, albeit unjustly, but now its clear: those are amazing.

Thanks. Yes, I was completely in the same boat as you. I thought they were okay, but gave my pair to a friend a few years ago instead of keeping them. But they grew on me significantly and they are now in my upper tier of Alden's.

Thanks Mike. Your posts and photos are great. That puppy and those snuff puppies are mine.
Here are my Ravellos once again. I really love the color as it is aging:

Your welcome and thanks! Your Ravellos are maturing nicely. I was wondering how the 2013 Brownvello was going to patina. I sold my last pair of 2013 Brownvello about 2 months ago when I sold my pair of the Alden DC Medallion CT Bluchers.

    Gents,

I've posted less these days as I've been selling more than buying. However it's not a shift away from Alden - just some rationalization. Here are my latest thoughts

    - I get more use out of traditional color 8 / black models than special make ups. I'm in a suit Mon-Thurs and business casual Friday. Honestly most cordovan bluchers / boots aren't ideal for me for the Mon-Thurs wear. I long underinvested in formal black / color 8 models. Mac and sevenfoldtie have long said Alden's best models are the classic ones in black and color 8, and they are right. I have a color 8 lhs and a black bal punch captoe - I will buy two more work shoes in black and color 8. Maybe three

    - In spring and summer, I almost never wear cordovan on weekends. I'm in suede or CXL loafers. So for half the year, I basically don't wear cordovan bluchers

Given these two, I don't really need a lot of what Alden does best - cordovan bluchers. I have a color 8 PTB and an RL Marlow - basically all I need. I need two or three pair of boots for fall, and that's it. For spring and summer, I need my suede and CXL loafers.

So for me, ideal Alden collection:
    4 dress cordovan shoes
2-3 CXL / suede shoes for summer
2-3 boots for fall / winter
2-3 Friday shoes - all year
