Mike, didn't somebody just do a run of those? I thought, anyway.
For black boots I like the Naval from Leffot and the 4065 straight tip. I had the 4065, but it didn't get much use to I sold it off.


Mac's shoes are like glass. Alden hasn't done shell that smooth for a while.

Alden of Carmel black grain LWB on commando or the Aldex leffot black grain LWB on plantation crepe sole?


I'm likely in the minority but I actually like the look and feel of crepe slightly better for casual but if you're planning on dressing up, I would probably go commando.

I agree. Gets rid of those unsightly underwear lines.... Oh wait... :crackup:

Upon first read I'm thinking 'what the heck is Tif talking about'? In my defense, I exceeded my self-imposed 2 drink limit at a Father's Day picnic last night so I'm feeling a little sluggish this morning. Once I figured it out, got a good laugh out of it.

Kind of related, my jcrew 8's with exposed eyelets on crepe sold last night on EBAY. I have this pit in my stomach as of all of my shells (rare included) these are easily my favorites and I know they will never come my way again. If they were 1/2 size smaller, I would wear these into the ground.

Oh well, they're only shoes. At least that what I keep telling myself.

I do. I obviously don't have any inside information but they have restocked all of their shells a few times over but never these. I've been on the lookout ever since I realized that these were a little larger than I would prefer.

I'll keep my fingers crossed but I'm not too optimistic.

Gentlemen, I just picked these up on Ebay and have searched the forum and other references for how to treat Aniline shoes. Do I put a little brown shoe polish on the back of these to cover the few scuffs on the heel? Thanks for the help.

I would imagine you would treat them like any other calf leather shoe. I would treat and polish as normal.

Probably some VSC or Lexol, no?


My recommendation is some sort of conditioner also, which type is up to you. You will likely still need polish to address the scuffs and to improve the leather's color. Good luck.
