I wish. My size not available. I've never really been into suede shoes, but the longer I'm on this site, the more impressed I am with alden suede. I've been eyeing up the FB snuff suede longwings for quite some time and the combination of a long week at work and a glass of single-malt has my resistance down and I'm simply unable to fight the urge anymore.

Do any of you other Gentlemen find the Alden Grant Last to be a tad narrow?

    Not much, just a little?

My personal experience with the Grant last is an absolute perfect fit.
Everyone's foot is different I suppose.

I think I just had the laces too tight...[IMG]

When I loosened them up they seemed to fit quite a bit better

Those are great. Kathy told me they actually came from a shipment intended for Blackbird.

You might want to check in with Adam at Alden of Carmel as he routinely does something similar in color 8.

But...but...but I only want rare shell makeups. :(

I put my name on the list for the Alden DC captoes, but I'm waaaaay down the list. Maybe I'll get them in 2018! [IMG]

a little. but more problematic for me is that the heel to ball length on it is slightly shorter than the half-size-down barrie ( so they may be perfect for people with long-toes and relatively shorter heel-to ball compared to heel to toe length)

I got some Whiskey PTBs but this stain is a real bummer. Does anyone think over time it'll smooth out enough? Otherwise I think I'm gonna have throw these back into the ocean..

That is indeed correct. They were initially ran for Blackbird and for some reason got either returned to Alden or Blackbird rejected a shipment for them or didn't pay or something and so they got offered to Kathy. A few of the pairs in the store actually still had the Blackbird logo on the inside although they were supposed to get switched by the factory and I think she was going to switch them out once we noticed that....

Unfortunately, that's pretty common for Alden "firsts" as of late. They're not terrible, but very far from a pristine clear shell.

My inclination would be that is a feature of that Shell and it can be covered up some, but won't go away. Welcome to the joy of Whiskey. The Whiskey PTB is the hardest shoe to make because it nicely displays any flaws duento it's wholecut nature. -M

Never fear my friend. Saphir Reno...let them sit for awhile...and then brush, brush, brush and repeat as needed!

I was concerned with my pair of Whiskey PTB as from some angles the shading was quite different. From the angle of me looking down on them they looked flawless and creasing has only further midden the issue. I emailed about them but was told it was normal and if I didn't want them their were other people in line for them and to send them back. They should have been seconds in my opinion.

I feel like the spot on yours will even out a bit with some Mac Method, wear and maybe some Fawn Saphir Cordovan Cream. I would keep your pair, seems whiskey is a tricky color for displaying flaws since it's so light
