Much appreciated DOB. Definitely looking forward to taking them for a spin.

2 years in Mike and I think I've finally figured out my shoe size. No one outside of this forum could possibly understand that. It's strange because everyone raves about the 975 (and rightfully so) but I would wear mine and they just didn't give me the same 'feel' as my other Aldens. Now I get to enjoy what the rest of you have been experiencing for quite some time. I love these B widths on my feet.

Much thanks Wooderson. Giving them the ole 'Mac Break-in Method' right now.

Thanks JK. I actually passed on these during the summer after a recent spending binge and have been kicking myself ever since. I just casually brought it up when talking to Kathy and was floored when she said yes. I was so shocked that I never even asked the price. Sometimes it really is better to be lucky than good.

Much thanks MM. Not really. She told me but after she said yes to the whiskey, I forgot everything else she told me.

Two more things. First, a family shot for color comparision. Whiskey, whiskey, ravello, ravello. Second, shameless plug/PSA, I'll be putting a once-worn 8.5E Leffot Grenwich boot in the marketplace later today. Anyone interested before then can PM me.

Quote:The Whiskey looks great. I take it thats a B width as well? That is quite the find. Last Kathy told me was that they started production end of November, as far as she knew. So given the break, and the weather now. I'd expect end of Mar, April time frame. Thats just my guess though.

Thanks csmitty. Actually these are a 'D' width and I'm fine with that since ultimately they will become a casual shoe. Plus, my experience is that the 975 always looked disproportionately 'clunky' on my feet and I'm not really sure why. I rarely wear suits but do dress on the higher end of business casual and the 975 just seemed to look out of place so I leaned more toward my sleeker Aberdeen-lasted shoes. I do not get the same feeling with these whiskeys, even though they are a D width. Go figure.

I also concur with what Kathy told you. I'm pretty sure it was March/April with the caveat being how much Alden has been shut down recently due to the weather.

This is making it harder for me to resist Anatomica's PT boot in #8.

Looks like the cigars are out in full force. Nice chilly day in the Tetons. Perfect weather for a cigar. Maiden voyage of the Alden x Leffot J.C. Indy's.

Fellow Alden heads, how do you care for your crepe soles? I recently picked up a PTB in #8 and the crepe sole is pretty ratty with all sorts of lint and stuff attached. I've also noticed the same from various in the wild pics. Any care tips?

Wait for it to wear out and resole [IMG].

I have one pair, snuff suede chukka on crepe. While the sole edges get a bit dirty, I only really wipe down if it contains salt. Otherwise, I've found them to be maintenance free. However, the appearance doesn't bother me much. Wish I could be more help.
