Any chance you'd share the price you paid? Simply out of curiosity.

The shells are graded by size (not what we percieve as "clean") - like the OP mine was the second largest, the price to get it to my door was just about $200, it's enought to make one boot.

    Cheers,

Big thanks to @Burzan for the psa. Once the slush/snow/rain clears I'll try and snap some sunlight pics. I think the black welt works on these for a dressier option. I imagine I will go the b Nelson route and get antique edging though when they need a resole.

So what do other people think about this makeup's edge color? I cannot decide whether I like it or not. With the rich and accurate old school Ravello color, a natural edge would be decidedly lighter than the upper's color itself, which might look a bit unusual. Who knows...

@smoothie1 - I'm with you man. I can't decide if I like it or not either. It definitely makes the shoe more conservative. I didn't know the edging color until after I purchased the shoes. I think it will grow on me.

I prefer the light edge. I had originally wanted Whiskey LHS and am still on wait list for 2+ years, but when these became available, I felt this Ravello color was more practical.

    - I hear you. The pair you have pictured are the more brown recent light shade from The Shoemart. While I think they look excellent and are better suited to the natural edge, the Ravello shade is somewhat different than the classic rich darker shade for which Alden is known.
