I've lurked this thread for awhile and, while my Alden stable is nowhere near as impressive as most here, I am rather happy with these newbies:

Cigar shell PTB on waterlock soles

The best part, though, was the following reaction when I dropped them off to have heel plates added by the local shoe repair place:

"Hey, look at those. They look great. What are they?"

    "Aldens."

"Aldens? I've always heard about them but never seen them!"

The repair guy then grabbed my shoes, ran back to the workbench, and lifted them up,

    "Guys! Check it out! Aldens!"

Apparently this is a rare siting in Denver.

Nice! Makes me think of a recent trip to a local shoe store wearing my cigar LWB and having them tell me that Alden no longer makes shoes in whiskey, ravello or cigar; and never again will?
    They sell Aldens too...

    Thanks!

My others are a whiskey LWB and a #8 tassel loafer that they used to make for Ben Silver (actually a hand-me-down from my father, that pair started the Alden interest)

Next up would be something in ravello or perhaps a loafer in a less-common suede color (navy, sand, etc.)

Love the color but for some reason the NST monk does not float my boat...love the NST boot however.

Should be heading into DC early next week. Any good stock of shell at the DC store? Will still drop by anyways. Just getting excited :)

Dardano's on Colorado Blvd, basically at I-25. They've done everything for me except complete sole replacements (though nothing major on any of my Aldens). They do good work and have super quick turnaround times. That is where the Ralph Lauren boutique and Lawrence Covell send their customers, FWIW.

I scooped up the cigar PTBs there. They had some pretty good stuff but nothing that was eye-poppingly rare. I want to say a whiskey LWB and maybe a chukka. I think there might have been a ravello wingtip boot, but there were one or two pairs tops. Of course, that was two weeks ago...

Quote:Nice, I'd be up for anything really if it strikes my fancy. Last I talked to them a month or two ago there wasn't much in my size. Just have to see I guess.

Great afternoon for my Natty Chrmxl LWBs...

Creasing and wrinkling are minimal thus far (about 7 months old).
