Anyone is familiar with TSM's pre-order procedure and when will they charge for the order? I confirmed the NST boots order the other day but they still haven't charged my credit card yet. I am a bit anxious. [IMG]

They do not charge until they ship. You are good to go.

I was told they will charge or rather hold the funds for roughly 24 hours on Monday or Tuesday. Than they will release them, basically it's some sort of insurance I guess that you actually can fund the purchase.
They will than notify you when they come in and charge that card on file at that time.

That's just silly. Whoever buys those at that price should have all other decision making privileges revoked...suspended at least.

That seems like a pie in the sky price. Captoes or NST boots in Ravello or whiskey might command a high price, but probably not as high as $1200. The Alden secondary/gray market is all over the place. I suppose all it takes is a single motivated (or international) buyer to reach these high prices.

It definitely has me re-evaluating whether to sell a few recent acquisitions in rare colors that are popular. Cheers.

Yes the secondary market is interesting. I think some are asking full retail on lightly used rare colors here. Makes you wonder .. I'd probably take a grand for my new Whiskey LWB in the most popular 9. Why not? Then again.. I love that model .. It's a staple for warm weather markets .. More so than say .. the East Coast. RL gets $1200 for Shell boots and $850 for Oxfords, Tassel, Penny. The Shell market seems pretty fluid. The rare colors are commanding more denaro .. Back to the game sorry.. Alden thread.. Ahh

Alden has a much higher profit margin on calf shoes. The difference in material cost is very significant between calf and shell. A single piece of shell retails for more than $100, depending on size. For the same money, one can get a couple full hides of quality calf, sufficient for half a dozen pairs of shoes.

Retailers take on a percentage off retail, so the opposite holds.

I've had terrible luck trying to sell my Alden's. I have attempted to cell new cigar under asking and the only buyer was from China so too risky. I've also tried to sell like new shell with only a handful of wears at 200+ below cost and had 0 luck. Besides here and eBay, any other suggestions? Perhaps a high end consignment shop??

I have never seen anything hit my cards until they ship. But maybe it's because I have been to the store a few times and bought from them many times. Not sure. But that is nothing to fret.
