I think I'm really close to pulling the trigger on the natural plain toe boot from Unionmade. Before I do this, does anyone know of any other retailers with their own variation of round toe boots in natrual CXL in stock? I'm aware I can get the same boot with a leather sole. Wondering if maybe anyone has a natural CXL cap toe or something else? Just curious before I place my order.

How does that look in person, quality wise etc? I have been considering it as I think the stitching is much more uniform to the sole shape than the real Indy

I took a brief gander at it this weekend too. Don't remember much except that I thought the sole looked pretty weak.

^ I saw the Ludlow. I'm not that impressed but cue snob alert. I do think the suede is nicer than the leather they use other models, at least superficially. Maybe I'm just not as good at evaluating quality of suede. The leather is IMO not good. The DC store had some sign describing what Goodyear was - don't remember it verbatim but very weakly done/borderline incorrect.

Let's just say that it isn't an Alden. It isn't bad though. I didn't care for the sole.

The only Alden they had was the Cadet blucher.

King indeed! Looking exceptionally well Saz...

I'm intrigued by the pebble grain shell. Would love to a pair one day.

I REALLY like these. Saw a pair at alden on Madison a few years back but they didn't have my size. I like the grant-lasted slip-on. Fit me better than van and aberdeen.

I have the suede indy from Alden Madison. Its a nice boot, the sole is pretty firm and will last a long time I think, Its my first Alden suede and have had no issue. Should last a lifetime. The wife likes the boot so thats a bonus.
I think it willl look better the more wear it gets.

    thanks

    DuckOB,

Is that a photo of the Suede Indy in your avatar? What kind of sole is on it?

yep , same one. Its a red brick sole, but nothing I have ever seen before ( i havent seen alot) its pretty firm, not as soft as the gumlite sole. I think it will last quite a while. I have to take some pics of other shoes so I'll try to remember and take a couple of the soles of these and post tomorrow. Its not as hard as leather and not as soft as gumlight. I haven't worn in the rain, so I am not sure how grippy they are.

    thanks
