Thanks tifosi! I don't know if its because I've got a big foot (therefore requiring a bigger piece of shell), but most of my whiskey is the lighter shade that takes on a more caramel look as they age. I have been overall very pleased with the color I've got.

    See Ya,
    Steve

I've actually wondered about this. If you have a larger foot size it stands to reason that more shell hide is being used to produce your shoe. Does shell in larger sizes cost more? There's an 'up charge' in the garment industry for stuff like shirts so it would make sense if this were true with shoes as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

They say you only get one pair of shoes from each shell. Of course a larger shoe takes more material and therefore costs more, but the guy's 6D shoe already has the cost built in from the guy's 12D shoe. I'm sure they charge what the maximum material cost is for the largest shoe for all sizes.

You could also check with JGilbert, they sometimes have NST boots on the Plaza last (commando sole) made. I'm on that list but have no idea when it will happen next time, I'm afraid.

Come to think of it, 2-6 months feels like a very short time to wait for a pair of Aldens nowadays, so maybe you don't really need to check with more stores.:)

I'm a 10.5 in the shell LWB/975. I normally wear decent socks with those. If considering the suede LWB, should I consider sizing down a half since I might be going sockless or with very thin socks?

Definitely not whiskey but a really great shade of ravello. They look close to the shade of Mike's jcrew longwings. As long as your not locked in on the lighter shade of whiskey, there is nothing else wrong with these shoes that merit returning them. From where I'm sitting you got a great pair of shoes that will become a collectors item. Enjoy them.
    Couldn't agree more.

May be the best shade of 8 I've seen. Incredible depth and character. Well done as always Mac.
