No, I really haven't seen any World Cup. I only saw the US vs. Portugal game so far. I had too much going on today to be "out at a meeting" for the game today. Some of my team took an early lunch today, strangely enough.

What do you have in Black Shell my friend? I think you just have a CT Boot, if so, I may go with the Black. I personally love Ravello and Navy.

I don't have any black shell at the moment. I actually sold the black CT boots. I just didn't get the use out of them. I think the cap toe made them look too formal for my use. Don't know if I'll get any more use out of a derby shoe or not... I guess I'm just a bit bored with #8.

I also love Ravello w/ navy, and of course Color 8 looks stellar. Not a huge fan of black w/ navy, though it doesn't offend me. I prefer to wear black only when I wear black clothes. And sometimes w/ gray, though I prefer browns/burgundies over blacks there as well.

Here are the derbys I love to wear w/ navy:
    LWBs in 8, Ravello, Cigar
    PTBs in 8 and Ravello
    NSTs in 8 and Ravello
EG Dovers in Dark Oak and Gold Delapre
    EG Wells in Dark Oak

@tifosi - do you WANT a black shoe or just think you SHOULD HAVE one? Because if it is the former, don't do it. I think the #8 NST on Aberdeen is beautiful and I have been looking at it. Also would consider (as I know you and I both have) the alpine grain NST on the Plaza last and commando from J Gilbert - though a bit steep. And the #8 on Plaza NST is a nice option too.

Ha! An NST may be a good alternative. I really like brogues, so I would personally go for something more hole punched myself. :)

^^ I guess I was just thinking of something else to wear with navy. So I guess I was just thinking burgundy or black. I don't wear brown with navy, but I might try Ravello.

Why no navy with brown? I don't get it!

Also trying to narrow down my next purchase (I have lots of bluchers)...

    Color 8 NST, Aberdeen
Color 8 or black shell straight tip, Aberdeen (recent picks have me really interested
    Black shell monochromatic saddles
    black shell wingtip bal, Tremont
    black shell wingtip boot, barrie

anyone in love with any of these options?

I like the NST and the straight tip.
Is there a perf. captoe blucher? That would be sweet. I'm also thinking of the medallion captoe blucher in #8. At least that would be something that I don't have in boot form.

I have never heard this rule and have heard a contrary rule (no black with navy except under limited circumstances). Interesting times we live in!

Dark Oak with navy is like peanut butter and chocolate. Trust me.

This is very interesting. I've always thought navy and brown is a great combo. I also like navy with black, though not as much as with brown or #8. Navy and #8 were made for each other.

They look like shell but I didn't recognize the model number (2450), and thought the seller was claiming calf as shell, even though they look like shell. Turns out model 2450 is #8 on the barrie last (see citishoes, for example).

    Could not agree more.

I dunno...maybe I am missing something else in #8. I only have the LWB and the rest of my #8 are boots. I just feel like when I look in my closet in the morning I need another versatile derby option.
