I did some testing on this a while back with several different colors - what that looks brown in the jar, the stain (color) it leaves behind is very yellow / whiskey in color

Use a latex glove and wipe some on a white sheet of paper, and then look what color the glove / paper are changes to...

    You will be surprised.

While surely not conventional, I found that using Saphir Greasy Leather Cream in brown does an excellent job matching this very light color while also moisturizing

    Have a look

Yesterday I was asked to take some top down photos of the Tanker on Barrie to compare it to the Indy on Truebalance

Below is a quick comparison of some of my boots

PCT CXL Brown Boot - this is my winter boot that I wear with thick wool (winter) socks, this is a 10.5D Barrie

    Context Tanker - 10D Barrie

Leffot Natural CXL Indy - 10D Truebalance

Hope this illustrates the differences a bit..

    Best Regards,
    BN

As others have said, it looks much darker in the jar than it does on the shoe. Basically all shoe polish looks darker in the jar. I have used this polish on whiskey cordovan and tan calfskin with great results.

A rough week + casual Friday = unlined color 8 PTB paired with obnoxious socks.

Yeah, I'm "that guy" today. My way of blowing off steam is to violate all style rules. :violin:

    Happy Friday, gentlemen!

Is it worth to pick up an Alden shoe tree or any of those woodlore ones would work just as well?

Alden shoe trees are not last specific right?

I'm glad to finally get some good spring weather in SC. I've been wearing my suede shoes all week. I like the cxl. Maybe something like those will be my next purchase.

    I

I like the woodlore better. The Alden trees have a fuller heel but I find that the woodlore trees have fuller toes that fit the shape of Aldens (especially Barrie lasted shoes) better.

Correct. They are not last specific. They are basic combination trees that are way overpriced. You can get something similar for $15 or less or even a nice, chrome knob version for under $40.

Agree with that. I bought the Alden trees, but they now sit unused in my closet. I don't think they fill out my Barrie-lasted PTBs very well at all.

I now use these trees from Johnston&Murphy. Do not buy their shoes, but these particularly trees fit my Barrie-lasted shoes perfectly. Hard to tell from the photo, but they have extra wood on the top of the tree that fits snugly under the shoe tongue. Great benefit for unlined PTB/Dovers.

Tell me about it! It's supposed to be in the 80's again this weekend - can't wait! They aren't Alden, but I love my Carmina snuff suede string loafers that I'm about to wear a ton over the next few months.
I agree, and the Woodlore trees are cheaper I believe.

Agreed they are over priced and really do not fill out the shoe any better. However my ocd requires matching shoes and trees. :)

I respect your OCD! I keep my Alden-branded tress to use for pictures. I put them in the shoe, snap some photos, and then replace them with better-fitting trees.
