Awesome shell shots this morning inspired me to snap a pic of my #8 Naval boots before some cleanup.

That's my boot. Or at least the one I really want to buy. Is Leffot the only store that has these made up? Or is there anywhere else I should be watching. Also, when they come up for sale, how fast to the popular sizes go... like days, or hours? I've been checking every day for more than a month now.... tedious. compulsive. maybe a little bit fun.

These are exclusive to Leffot and there's only been one run of them as far as I know (there were 2 runs of black shell). I'm not positive, but I'm fairly confident that they'll get more in at some point. It could be a long while though... I think the popular sizes sold out in a few days if I remember correctly.

I think the closest thing to this boot is the J Crew perf. cap toe boot. I think the differences are antique vs. dark edge and eyelets vs. speed hooks.

if it weren't for the eyelets I would have grabbed the J. Crew boots long ago. I guess I'll keep checking... every... day. Thanks!

Definitely give Leffot a call. They can probably tell you if and when they're planning another order. Maybe you could talk them into another run after the #8 Tankers?

I've emailed with them. They pretty much said sign up for this email list and be ready because cordovan goes fast.

Unionmade has some interesting wingtip boots right now. Are wingtips more, or less dressy than a cap toe?

I would say wingtips are more dressy, but I think it's debatable. Depends on leather type, welt, color, etc.

This is a wired dynamic. I am also not a fan of speedhooks but unlike crepe where most people seem to dislike but occasionally a post slips in defending them, I have never seen a post in favor of speedhooks. Not one. Yet, Alden keeps making them on most of their boots. Odd.

Gents, some amazing shots of shell yesterday and this morning! With the apparent shell shortage in exotic colors, I have recently been distracted by chromexcel. My last three acquisitions...

Lovely. I love the saddles. IMO Chromexcel and Shell are almost on even ground. A lot of the same great qualities.

I personally prefer all eyelets in general but have never not bought boots because of speedhooks. And I've seen quite a few preferences for speedhooks posted, although it may have been on the C&J or Viberg threads. One of the problems with speedhooks is how they presumably catch the hem threads. But this is more of an issue with dressier pants and not really a problem with chinos or jeans. Other than that, it's really a matter of preference. On some boots, I actually prefer speedhooks.
