Ha! I'm almost embarrassed that I was able to piece that together... If you're not married to the antique edge then check with Alden DC. They carry #8 Dovers with a dark edge. Not sure what sizes they have laying around though.

Have to agree - those are some of the best looking cigar shoes I've seen... Lots of character there, great shoes.

The Alden nomenclature is sometimes confusing.

Alden Dover is a common type of plain toe Blucher. Not common for Alden, but absolutely the norm for almost every other shoemaker.

The standard Alden 'PTB' is technically a 'whole-cut' Blucher. A standard for Alden, yet not so common elsewhere (except maybe the famous Church's Shannon).

The most puzzling is that Alden has something called a Blucher Oxford. So is it Blucher, as in derby, or Oxford as in Balmoral? It seems that term Oxford simply refers to lace up shoes. Duh.

I wouldn't count on the E width in the unlined version working similarly to the D width in the lined PTB version.

You're comparing potentially thousands of lengths of wood to just a few cuts of leather; It's not even close to being the same. But for similarly sized projects carpenters do sort their material.

Ya know. I used to like you. The only way I could be more jealous is if it was a 15202. Congrats, BK. You got yourself a heck of a timepiece, there. Enjoy it. Not spoilered on purpose.

The tan/navy saddles at Leffot look great in person

Speaking of saddles, I posted a fit in the Epaulet thread that included the color 8 / alpine grain saddles
