LoL! It sucked getting them setup for the record... Anyone have a good shoe storage solution for higher end shoes?

My shoe storage is decentralized. I have them spread across three rooms. Helps to obfuscate quantity a little... ;-) My wife knows I have a shoe problem. She knows I love this "stupid thread"...

In general, how do your shoe collections compare to your wives' shoe collections? I am unmarried but just started dating a girl who was shocked to see my Alden shoe collection (which pales in comparison to some of yours) and to find "shoe selfies" in my iPhone

My wife has a pair of flip flops, tennis shoes, and two pairs of dress heels. I trump her hard with just one closet!

I had to build custom cedar shelving in my closet.

I originally thought it was sarcasm.

the girl im seeing always leaves her phone in the car and thus frequently asks to use mine to search internet, yelp, etc. i look reluctant handing it over - making sure to first clear all sf, tumblr pages. this behavior has made her suspicious of me and now believes im seeing someone else (which i am) but its the shoe collection/obsession that I dont want her to discover. i remember a few years ago a girl i was dating somehow figured out of i was on SF and continued stalking me before a mutual friend revealed it. never again, never forget

Possibly, but certainly not if he's part of the "no black shoes, ever" crowd. Sarcasm or not, mdubs does not have too much black. :D

My wife isn't that interested in shoes, or really in accumulating items in general. Clothes, records, scotch, beer, bikes, shoes -- it's no contest. Just more proof she's smarter than I am.

Can anyone who owns this pair comment? I am definitely interested in this make-up and I'm ready to pull the trigger, but I also fear that they will look like this after a few months of frequent wear. Thanks in advance...
I only wear these about once a week, but I would be shocked (and sad) if the ended up looking like that....they have definitely wrinkled but nothing like the pair listed on ebay......shoe trees go in immediately after they are taken off......I would guess that may not be the case with the pair on ebay [IMG]
Thanks for your thoughtful response. I think with the correct size, this shouldn't be an issue unless you play football with them. BTW, beautiful shoes!!

Thank you, I typically wear suits, so black shoes do get a bit of use in my rotation. The Black Cap Toes though I pretty much only wear with my Black Suit or maybe my gray pinstripe, and so their wear is limited to when I wear those suits. I have a pair of Black LWBs in production also, so I will have another black shoe someday?

Black cordovan is underrated and very useful. Here are the black cordovan models I think everyone should really consider, particularly if you ever wear charcoal dress pants or suit pants:

Black wingtip balmorals (Alden or Brooks Brothers)
Black longwing blucher
Black full strap loafer
Black tassel loafers
Black straight tip captoe balmoral
Black perf tip captoe balmoral
Black captoe boots (Grant, Barrie)
Black NST boot (plaza, aberdeen, tanker, whatever)
Black NST blucher
Black PTB (particularly from Brooks Brothers)
mdubs' black plaza semi brogue
mcarthur's black plaza medallion captoe boots

I have 3 or 4 pair of black shell shoes/boots, and I don't regret them one bit.

"Shoe selfies" are pretty embarrassing. I delete mine like they're national security secrets.
I've got nowhere to hide, my wife knows I take shoe pictures before work, I need help.

My wife has more shoes than I do but nothing expensive.

It is equally "fun" when people find your instagram filled with shoes.

Same here. Women's fashion changes so quickly, my wife prefers moving through a variety of inexpensive shoes. What's a man to do? Once you find your favorite make/last, is the lwb/swb/ptb etc ever going to change? Who would really collect a dozen colors of each? :embar: mdubs :embar: j/k...with age and quantity I long ago gave up on the "It will last a lifetime argument."
