Blustery day in LA. Alden Pitt boots in reverse oiled chamois with plantation crepe sole. I think these were from Winn Perry.

I was just thinking about this model today. Do these have a closed heel / 270 degree welt?

PSA: a pair of Union Hill Indys appeared on Need Supply's website in size 10. They were previously sold out of this size.

I wear an 8.5D in a Calfskin Berry Last and they fit like a 'glove' when I first put them on. They don't pinch my toes or make my feet feel uncomfortable, just a snug fit. They loosen up after wearing them two or three times.

My question is: If I buy the shell, should I buy the same size I would buy in a Calfskin or should I go up to a wider E size since the shell does not stretch like Calfskin.

Can anyone comment on the Unionmade cap toe boots and chukkas in this flyer? How are they different?

It is said that shell models run slightly larger than their calf counterparts, so same size should serve you well.

Some have suggested that it is because shell is less pliable than calf, and cannot be wrapped as tightly around the last as a consequence. This makes sense to me.

Thanks Bakes11771. I called Alden Shop and asked the same question and the salesman said that the shell tend to fit a bit tighter and I should buy the E size but after reading through some posts, it seems like everyone is buying the size they would buy in calfskin. I would hate to buy a pair and have to send them back and then wait for a different size. So yea.... I guess I'll just do the 8.5D size and start from there. Thanks again for your reply.

Today. There's a whole other world besides this thread after all. Lighten up man, you didn't take shoes so seriously before - I remember asking you for sizing advice years ago.

ETA: I revisited this thread just to see if anything had changed - nothing has. I remember being caught up in the magical whirlwind of everything Alden = amazing. This thread is a good source of deals / makeup announcements and pictures. However, nobody seems to want to discuss any other aspects of the brand. Pages will go by with nothing but requotes of the same two pictures over and over again. Anyway, I will leave the thread be - carry on.
